A good beer, but as a Saison it just doesn’t cut it. Pours a sparkling golden orange with great carbonation and a thin off white cap. Nose is zesty and citrus forward with pepper and coriander notes. A hint of honey and caramel malts. Sweet tasted with a few light yeast notes and tart lemony notes. Orange rind and coriander are more subtle with a hint of black pepper. Overall, the nose was way better than the taste.

Light orange/yellow. Big head, Highly carbonated. Fruit, cloves, a little tartness. First saison, so no basis for comparison. Light palate, easy drinker. 070212

Single bottle purchased from Zyn Liqour in Calgary, AB on 06/09/2012. Colour: Lovely light copper and gold with minimal head. Nose: Wow, bursting with buttered popcorn! Light butterscotch enters with subdued dark fruits. Taste: Medium sweet, light bitter, medium sour. The initial sweetness is candied like but not sickly. Moves down the palate to a tantalizing fruit cake with a light vanilla frosting. Finish has more vanilla and lingers with a hint of spicy sourness. Simply stunning ....once in the mouth!

Golden light brown with a 1" rocky noisy crown floating on top. Sour dough bread with lemony notes in the nose, yeast and some pepper are showing up to. Highly drinkable, nice light flavor, wheaty, citrusy, peppery, all the right flavors for the style. The sour becomes to prominent the longer I drink and its the wrong kind of sour if you kn ow what I mean. But dam you can just slam this stuff. Great effort for the style but falls a little short.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. He woke me up to rate this. Golden amber colour. Sweet aroma and flavour. Quite nice. Spices, cinnamon and cloves.

Sweet yeasty banana aroma, like a faint hefeweizen. Pale orangey colour with lasting white head. Taste is sweet, some citrus, no bitterness, but a touch sour and buttery. Not bad.

Pours clear pale orange with mountains of white foam. Aromas very citrusy, with a bit of yeast in behind. Bready. Taste opens actually quite sweet and fruity (berries), moves to drying bitterness with lemon. Mild funk. Not really a saison as far as I can tell, but a perfectly reasonable and pleasant summer drink.

First off - I don’t like the name and I think it was not a very original choice for being the winner of a naming contest. The appearance was slightly cloudy with a decent head and little retention. Nose was a touch of spice and yeast but rather weak for a saison. The taste was decent albeit very understated for the style. Notes of yeast and spice are too understated but present nonetheless. I enjoyed it but I wish AK would be a little more bold about tackling these styles.

Bottle. Amber liquid. Missed the mark with the ingredients or the ferment temperature. Aroma and flavour of apple cider more than beer. No funk or spice.

Bottle, drank in comparison with Half Pints saison seasonal. This suffered by comparison for sure. None of the yeast or spice character present in the other brew, or what little there is gets drowned by the buttery cookie malts. Sweet, underhopped, and lacking character. Calling this a saison is like calling a Toyota Tercel a sports car.
