Bottle: Poured a hazy medium copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of strong scotch notes with some alcohol fusel and some light caramelized sugar. Taste is a mix between some grainy malt notes with some dominant scotch notes and some fusel alcohol notes. Body is about average for style with average carbonation and some apparent alcohol. I was really fond of the malt bill use in that beer and the scotch and fusel alcohol notes were somewhat too dominant for my taste.

341mL bottle poured reddish-brown into goblet with virtually no head and small trace of lacing. Aromas of whiskey and oak. Taste is lightly sweet with oak and whiskey dominating. There is some light hoppiness and earthiness in the finish. Carbonation is light and body is medium to heavy. I tried 2 bottles about a month apart, with the first one being too much whiskey and the second was much smoother and outstanding overall.

Pours a moderately opaque very dark reddish brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma: Slightly sour, but sweet. Taste: Very strong, notes of caramel, alcohol, some oak, some whiskey. Very full bodied. A big change from ordinary olde deuteronomy; a lot less malts, a lot less hoppy, but the oak and whiskey really shine trough. Warming mouthfeel, tongue will numb a bit. Finishes with a breadish malt tone, some oak, some whiskey, and a bit of an earthy bitterness. This is pretty fantastic, quite an accomplishment, being Canada’s strongest beer ever commercially brewed, and an explosion of flavour! A real winner!

Murky brown with no cap I mean not even a single bubble floating on this stuff, but the beer does appear to be carbonated. Aroma is aromaless! You can smell some sourish wood and mild hints of vanilla, and I have no idea how Alley Kat did it but they managed to completely hide the 18.5% alc. In the aroma not even a small trace of it. GOOD JOB!!!!Taste is far more potent than the nonaroma. Wood, apple, vanilla, just mild hints of the massive alcohol beast that lies within. Seriously how is this 18.5%?!?!?!?! I can tell it’s there because my stomach warms with every swallow and I’m starting to feel more important and funnier with every sip, but WOW!!! There is no harshness to this beer at all. The beer even has a much thicker feel then I was expecting. This brew has less flavor and not as good flavor as “Mikkeller Big Worst Barley Wine Bourbon Edition (19.2%)” but it is 100 times more drinkable, I mean this is scary drinkable I could drink this all night and then probably die, you just can’t tell how much of a beast this beer is until you’re in a coma after two of them. Crap after finishing the 341ml bottle I’m drunk, very drunk, homeless guy begging for change drunk. Great job Alley Kat you did good HIGH FIVE(I say this as if I’m taking to my retarded half-brother who has a drooling problem)

Very nice. Pours slightly murky mid-brown, not much head. The Olde deuteronomy is great and this just adds to it. Despite the serious alcohol the scotch aging brightens and sharpens it up and provides a nice balance to the rich barley wine backbone. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel but it worked for me. Ps. do share the bottle.

As good a scotch barreling as it gets in Canada. Rich brown colour, little head. Barreled in 20 year old Glen Breton. Sherry taste, bolstered by caramel.Enlivens the Old Deutronomy. Understated carbonation. A sipper because of the alcohol, which is present. Good scotch nose, . Very fresh.Bottle shared with Neil from Alley Kat.
