COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Picture taking a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream, mixing it up, then smelling and tasting the chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors. Now picture smelling and tasting those flavors in a stout. Canít decide between a rich stout or an ice cream for dessert? Why not do both? Neapolitan ice cream = awesome. Beer = awesome. Neapolitan ice cream + beer = awesome squared.

Pours out a nearly pure black with a finger of tan head. Some lacing rings form later as the head dies slowly. Nose of a mild roast, lactose sweetness and a bit of chocolate and vanilla. Sweet in the middle with a medium roast and a dry finish. Notes of chocolate and vanilla are both somewhat present, but no strawberry. Full bodied and tasty, but not my favorite (those sweet stouts arenít my fave)

Big aromas of cocoa, and vanilla. The strawberry seems to get lost in the shuffle, maybe there are some hints in that there is a subtle tartness in the finish, but mostly this is a vanilla cocoa stout. And a good one at that! desert in a bottle!

Bottle at home, out of my trusty Maudite glass. Pours deep black, quite opaque, thick, though short-lived chocolate brown head. Lacing is disappointing, considering how incredible the head looked, if only briefly. Nose is quite chocolatey, some roast, some graham crackery notes, I suppose there could be some vanilla or strawberry here, but maybe theyíre more in the mouth, Iím not really smelling much of them. Flavours are moderately bitter, and very well-rounded - chocolate is there again, and in force, rather medium-bodied for a stout, and very open and approachable. Flavourful, yet not dense and tight, which is interesting. Again, plenty of chocolate, but very little in the way of strawberries or vanilla. Thatís a bit of a disappointment I suppose, but the beer is otherwise quite lovely. A fine stout, though perhaps, just a hint thin towards the finish...

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malty with lactose and medium vanilla notes. Taste is quite heavy with light roasted malt offset by solid amount of lactose and some vanilla notes are also easily noticeable. Body is full with syrupy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Interesting experiment and I get what they tried to achieve but I just donít think this is something I would drink on a regular basis.

Pours black with a thick brown head.Strong chocolate aroma. Some notes of coffee. Smells very nice. very smooth and creamy with a very strong chocolate flavour. I get a very mild strawberry in th finish. But in my opinion this is nothing but a chocolate stout with a cool label. It is a very good stout, but it falls very short of its goal of combining vanilla, (which I can not taste but it comes out a little in the aroma) strawberry, and chocolate. Cool idea could have been pulled off better.

650mL bottle poured almost black with big beige head settling to a thin lace. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Taste is sweet malt with some chocolate and vanilla. Overall, this is quite a nice stout.

[3835-20110723] 341mL bottle. Vanilla chocolate cocoa malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a quick foamy brown head. Sweet cocoa chocolate syrup malt flavour is a little boozy. Full body. Tasty chocolateness is a touch overpowering. (7/3/6/3/13) 3.2

2011-07-23. Black body with a modest creamy tan head. 3+ Sweet aroma, vanilla and cocoa notes, hint of strawberry if I breath deeply? Flavour is similar, sweet base with melange of cocoa and strawberries, vanilla lingers in the aftertaste. Highlights are lovely, but the overall sweetness of it gets to be a bit cloying by the end. 6+ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate is very lightly carbonated. Okay. Vanilla in the nose comes out more as it warms. Bottle via trade with Vertical Bacon Bits

Wow, what a beer. I didnít really expect to be able to pick out all the individual flavors but they are certainly there. Chocolate dominates both the aroma and the palette. Right after taking the chocolate plunge a soft vanilla presence comes forward followed by a distinct berry finish. Well done Alley Kat

In short: A very milky stout with loads of vanilla. Surprisingly fun beer.
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed about 5 months after the beer release. Bottle sent to me by Vertical Bacon Strip. Thanks a lot Jeff
The look: Black body topped by a short lived tan head quickly receding to a ring of flam
In long: Nose has plenty of vanilla extract, Description talks about strawberry flavors. I donít get those. It also talks about ice-cream and I get A LOT of ice-cream. This beer has more than lactic notes, it is downright milky. Lots of milk chocolate here. Unfocussed fruity notes. Carbonation is a bit lacking. Vanilla + sweetness become a bit too much after a single 12oz bottle. All in all this is a good beer. This Napoleon is pleasant even if simple and straightforward, it is not a Napoleon complex, badoom tsss!
