Each year, Sherbrooke sponsors the winner of the EHG "HomeBrewer of the Year" - they get to pick a recipe, which we brew. The 2010 winners were Ray Duperron and Patrick Doyle. This robust porter starts with lots of chocolate and coffee up front followed by dried fruit. The finish is moderately sweet balanced with roasted malts and a lingering bitterness. - $16.99/6 pack Brewed for us by our Friends at Alley Kat Brewing Company (5.6% Alc/Vol. 341 ml) Ingredients: malt, water, hops, yeast

Pours a very dark brown/black with little light coming through and a huge light brown head. Aroma consists of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, and bready. Flavours are black malts, slightly burnt, dark chocolate, coffee dryness, and medium bitterness. Overall it seems over carbonated.

Pours a very dark brown with a red tinge with a creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, grain, bread and a slight sweet chocolate. Taste is a good mouthfull of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and then medium bitterness on the finish which is moderately sweet. Medium body but the carbonation on this baby is ridiculously high and kind of ruins the experience with this beer.

Lovely dark brown pour with towering head. Aromas hit all the right notes of cocoa, coffee, chicory, roasted nuts. Taste is pleasantly balanced rich dry matinees with a clean bitter finish. Uncomplicated porter, done to a t.

Bottle at Kawa, Calgary. It pours jet black, with a gigantic light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, charcoal, light smoke, coffee grounds and cocoa powder. The taste is roasted malt, rich coffee, light charcoal, dark fruit and berry, light acidity and some salted liquorice, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Robust, flavoursome and well balanced. Very drinkable.

Pours black as oil, with a thick brown head. It has a very robust roasted malt aroma with delicate chocolate notes. Very strong dark chocolate flavour with a dry bitter finish. It reminds me of bakers chocolate. It has the perfect body and mouth feel this is a great porter.

The pour is a pure, jet black with a finger of creamy beige head. Rings of beautiful yellowish head stick to the glass but dissipate quickly. The nose is a robust, dry roast with notes of chocolate. burnt wood, coffee, liquorice and dark fruits. A light hop is also noticed on the nose. The taste is sweet and malty in the middle with a nice dry finish. A nice chocolate with a hint of coffee in the middle make way to a smooth, slightly bittered and dry finish. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but this brew has a medium body and a nice creamy drinkability. Overall, this is a great porter. Good work!!

341mL bottle poured almost black into glass with beige head that settled quickly to light lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is malty sweet with a hint of chocolate and some light hops in the background. Medium bodied and robust carbonation give a nice mouthfeel. A very fine porter indeed.

Bottle from brother-in-law. Dark and tasty. This is a great representation of the style. Notes of chocolate and coffee but nothing too in your face.

Bold tasting, spot on style. Opaque black, above average mouthfeel. A must try porter, no gimmicks. Some chocolate. Good roasted aromas and roasted malt taste. Thanks Presario.
