COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our St. Portersburg Baltic Porter is a delicious strong ale with notes of toffee, caramel and dark fruits. It’s full-bodied, robust, and guaranteed to keep you warn throughout the remaining winter months. Originally brewed in the 18th Century in the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland, this brew travelled the North Sea to be enjoyed by all who inhabited the area. A beer with flavour as rich as its history!

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a black color with an off-white head. The aroma was of caramel and dark fruits. The taste was of caramel, malts, fruits with a mild bitterness in the finish. Nice.

22oz bottle tasted during RBSG. Mostly clear but very dark brown / red color. Thin khaki head. Ropes and dots of lace. Good dark chocolate, fudge in the nose. Hint of coffee, mild roast. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Moderate bitter, moderate sweet. Pretty impressive, smooth, flavorful porter.

Bottle… RBSG 2014… Dark brown pour with a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The nose is a marriage of dark chocolate chips and a less significant component of crusted port. Full-bodied and ultra-creamy with pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor offers deeply roasted malts, fudge and a small splash of medium sherry. Slight cardboard-like oxidation in the finish.

650ml beer. Darker ale, other people ripping on oxidation but I got slight mint notes and sherry but its not too oxidized.

This is brown in the glass, almost black, with a slight head of off-white bubbles. It seems like my sample was aged or just old because it has a good deal of oxidized character, lots of coconuts in the nose especially. It is quite sweet with low carbonation. Tastes mostly of raisins and chocolate with a lingering touch of sweetness in the finish.

Guest bottle @meet and greet RBSG 2014: Muddy brown with ruby highlight. Smells of old wet cardboard, some roast, hint of chocolate and very faint raisins. Missing the lovely dark fruit overtones normally found in the best examples of the genre. This seems quite old.

Bottle thanks to someone. Pours near black with dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has musty dark grains with some roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. Flavor has much more sweet dark grains and sweet chocolate with some toffee.

Aroma: rich notes of black licorice, brown sugar and dark malts Taste: big malt flavors off bat which are met by a nice hopiness that finishes smooth. Appearance: Dark body with white/brown head that retains well
