To be honest, I was drunk when I had this guy, but hes what I thought...A solid pure black viscous nearing syrupy pour with a budding two finger thick tan head and a mild chocolate and roasted malt nose. Sweet flavour with notes of cocoa, french roast, light cherry flavours and a hit of big roasted almost burnt malts. Just a big brew overall.

caramel, coffee, toast, chocolate, earthy, black, clear, rocky head, brown foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, light body, creamy, soft carbonation, bitter
Pour is black with short lived light brown foam. Not much for aroma but some toasty chocolate/caramel. Taste is fairly sweet with again some dark chocolate (subtle) and a light bitterness. Fairly reminiscent of a chocolate stout, but with a shade more bitterness. Mouth feel is light with a creamy coating on the tongue. Bitterness and a light astringency in the finish, but this is short lives as well. Alcohol is very well masked for being higher on the ABV side. Quite enjoyable. A nod to Wines and Beyond (Sherwood Park, Alberta) for having this local beer on tap for take home in refillable growlers. Nice touch.

Dark brownish black pour with small tan head. Aroma of malts, chocolate and leather. Taste of roasted malts, cocoa, caramel, slight vanilla, hint of peat, faint nuttiness and very faint smoke. Full bodied, medium carbonation and became more creamy on the mouthfeel as it warmed to room temps. Very good and very enjoyable baltic porter.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 andrewturba (456) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 17, 2013
Pours an opaque very dark brown almost black with moderate tan coloured head that over time turns into a fine ring around the glass. Aromas of sweet malt, roasted malts, light caramel, some complex alcohol, coffee and a bit of dark chocolate. Flavours are sweet malt, dried dark fruit, dry coffee and a touch of licorice warming alcohol mixture. Overall quite clean and smooth.

Overall an excellent baltic porter.

Basically black, little head. Aroma of chicory, stale coffee, dark chocolate. Taste brings out a lot more fruit - notably dates. Vaguely grainy. Lacks the punch and verve of some b.porters. Mouthfeel borders on the syrupy. Sweetness a little overwhelming.

Aw Alley kat the local brewer I love to support and hate at the same time. Beer numer two of the night and I did things in the wrong order, I started with Brooklyn black chocolate stout..... can alley kat do any better? Lets find out. Not better but my first impression is that this is good. Dark brown body, no real cap to speak of, only a bubble ring around the edge of the pint. This beer appears to be smelless... faint hints of sour, possible spice, maybe apple juice. Tatse aint to bad, coffee, a out of place banana, vanilla, possible chocolate, no alchol. Very nutty finish. So very hard to get a good lock on any of the flavours. Not a bad attempt really, but its still a bellow average.

650ml bottle pours almost black with some deep amber highlights displaying a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some dark fruits (perhaps raisins). Taste is a caramel malty and fruity sweetness with a light alcohol sensation and a mild bitterness in the finish. A pretty decent brew for the style and quite tasty.
