3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Taste of Edmonton 2012. 5%. Clear copper pour with a moderate white foam, medium retention, some lacing on side of glass. Aroma is light, citrusy, grainy. Taste is quite smooth, toffee sweetness and barley and grains, light hops. Love the texture of steam beers. Finish is surprisingly bitter tasting given the sweet aroma, but smooth enough to have you reaching for another.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
341mL bottle stated 5.3%ABV on the label. This beer poured amber color with a big white head that settled fairly quickly to a very fine lacing. Aroma of grassy hops and bready malt. Taste is nicely balanced with malt and hops and some citrus as well. A very fine beer.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured a beauty amber brown with decent head. This beer is a great example of the style (from my limited experience) and went down smooth. Compared to Anchor Steam-my only benchmark for the style- this beer definitely holds its own.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a clear toffee amber with a sponge toffee head of medium size and retention. Very toasty aroma and flavour, really nice and malty. An excellent flavourful session ale. I’d like to have this in my fridge all summer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had a box of beers in the back of the SVU. Someone else opened the trunk and the box fell out. Only damage was this one started to foam so enjoyed it straight from the bottle. Really nice full bodied grain flavour. Have to drive back to Edmonton so I can enjoy another.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
341ml brown bottle. Alc content 5.3% abv according to the label. Brassy coloured with a decent fluffy cap. Pleasant malty nose. A bit of a fruity malt start, some red berries, caramel notes, moves into citrusy bitterness. Citrus peel aftertaste, some lingering grapefruit notes, dry malt. Medium body, smooth tight carbonation profile. Sessionable, with nice balance. Glad I found a single bottle of this, I kept passing it over thinking it would be a pale lager.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2010 Re-rate Jan 15, 2010 - Get rid of that armpit sweat thing... no signs. Still really damn fine brew with no flaws. Very very enjoyable drinking!
Poured out a nice deep amber with the slightest amount of floaties which settle quickly. Big white / very light tan cap greeted me, good messy lacing. Aromas of orange, citrus, nectarine, armpit sweat, dry biscuit.. pretty damn good! Medium strength hops can be taste first, noticeable spice, some biscuit, good bitterness. Smooth beer with a good finish consisting of citrus and nice malts that dominate the after taste. Gimme more! An excellent beer by Alley Kat.
