COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Hints of chocolate and caramel, with light antipodean hop flavours.
Originally brewed as the first of our New Zealand Hops series in April 2010 as Maori Dark Mild, it proved so popular it replaced our longstanding core beer, Mild at Heart in June 2010.
A traditional dark Mild, with hints of chocolate and caramel with the slight hoppy finish of the Mild style but with a twist from the New Zealand grown Pacific Jade and Pacifica hops.

draft at Dagda. slightly light for a black IPA. chocolate notes in the nose matched in the taste. hops mostly turn up in the finish. surprisingly tasty for a 3.6% beer, if not terribly complex.

Cask conditioned handpump Old Fountain London 23/07/12. A near black coloured beer with a thin off-white head. A smoky and slightly sour mild. The NZ hops don’t add citricity. Interesting flavour of acidity which may not be totally wanted. A bit of chocolate. Decent enough in places.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2012 Cask gravity at 7th Bexley BF. Very dark brown colour lasting thin beige head. Good choccy aroma even before i pick the glass up. Yes a good choccy simple beer. Some hop sting on finish. A modern dark mild done well. Some dryness. Tastes nice and fresh. Fine

Cask. Deep brown almost black with a ruby haze. Small tan head. Dusty cocoa, mild caramels, a bit of coal. It's surprisingly light given the colour, but also the finish is disappointingly non-existant. A light fizzle then gone.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’12. Brown with no head. Thin, slightly washed out malty beer, little depth, there is a metallic edge to it. Some caramel, not that good on the day.

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Black colour, small beige head. Aroma is coffee, earth, roasted malts and some slight liquorice as well. Flavour is quite similar in a nice balance. Ends quite chocolaty and dark fruity.
