COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
Bright Blade was the nickname of King Oswald (latterly to become St Oswald) who was slain at the Battle of Maserfelth, reputedly near Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.
This golden ale is made with three hop varieties and arouses the taste buds with its ginger spice and lemon nose; which is followed by a satisfying aftertaste.

VEry nice one, and a little sweet. The way I like the blondes. Not so goldy and nice features in it.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Gold with white head. Straight into a lemonade flavour initially ok but then an astringent ginger note and it really is heavy drinking, a struggle. Sweet and grainy, not a good combination of flavours.

Cask/gravity at GBBF 2009. Pours a dark gold with small head. Aroma of ginger and orange follows through into the palate, initially clean taste becomes slightly cloying.

Cask (handpump) @ The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Sq, Salford, Manchester, England M3 6DB.
Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, toasted, fruity, moderate to light heavy ginger and soap. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy ginger bitter with a average duration, and a peppery - ginger sweet finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Cask at The Friendship, Fallowfield. Looks gorgeous - light gold with thin, lasting white head. That’s the positives done. Awful flavour. I just can’t describe it. Something herbal and unpleasant. I left it half way down as I just couldn’t stand it any more. Too thin and no discernible aroma, either.

Cask, Sweet Green Tavern, Bolton. Golden yellow, fruity, christmas cake aroma. Flavour is too overpoweringly ginger for my taste, but if ginger is your thing, then this has obvious appeal.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of grass. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of grass.

An original ale that looks a bit greenish around the edges of its clear golden hue. 1cm white topping. Nutty and fairly toasty considering its pale colour. Mysteriously flowery with almost no bitterness. Those aromas are quickly overtaken by sweet, direct, very grainy flavours that could use some balancing counterpower.
