COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional.
A single hopped pale ale with crazy citrus aromas.
Originally brewed in June 2010 as the first in a series of occasional ’one hop’ beers, using more unusual hop varieties.
Citra hop. We first heard about it late in 2009, had our first whiff of its wonderful aromas in early 2010 and resolved immediately we just had to have some. And after much pleading, begging and offering to sleep with whomever we needed to we managed to get 20kg of the hop and brewed just five gyles starting in June. And it is just wonderful stuff. Our first few pints in fact nearly made us cry.
It’s just this incredible hop delivers a massive tropical fruit salad of aromas and could easily fool one into thinking you are drinking tropical fruit juice, ala Um Bongo. The aromas and flavours are simply citrus, peach, apricot, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, gooseberry, lychee, pineapple, tangerine, mango, papaya and all tropical fruit flavors and aromas.
And with the Citra hop we knew it was going to be extremely difficult to source a further supply and were thinking of future years when we could miss out. This is what made us nearly cry!
Anyway in December 2010 we heard that we had a confirmed delivery of 100kg from Washington State arriving in Liverpool on 17th December. Father Citra has come early!
So we are now able to brew Citra on a semi-permanent basis throughout 2011. So, All Gates Citra, if you see it in a pub, taste it and please let us know what you think.

Cask, Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Pallid gold looks with a small white head. Cracking tropical fruit and citrus hops in the nose and flavour. Superb balance and oh so easy to drink. Clean, fresh and in great condition. Shining stuff.

Light, hoppy and fruity with some lemon citrus taste to it. Very much in a golden ale style would be better suited to summer drinking

On cask at Odiham and Greywell Cricket Club - Pours a very pale golden, delightful mix of fruitiness and hoppyness which was extremely pleasing on the palate. A very interesting/enjoyable beer that I warmly recommend.

Cask gravity at Mason & Taylor Hip Hop BF. Hazy pale gold lasting thin white head. Touch of sauvignon blanc lime goose berry aroma. Rather stunning to be honest. Wow that is full and intense in the mouth. Just so amazing the citra hop. Stunning aroma. One of the most pleasant beers I have drunk.

Hand pulled at the White Horse, Harborne, Birmingham. Very fresh taste. Soapy lemon, with a watery backwash and some chopped herbs breathing over my shoulder. Aroma is nicely hopped. In total this is very tasty, drinkable and balanced, whilst remaining quite light.
