On gravity at Swindon BF 30/10/08. Dark brown with reddish undertones and an off-white head. Slight aroma of toffee and nuts. Flavour had a dull sweetness, some earth and a slight roastiness before a short, dry finish. Tasted straight after Ascot’s On The Rails and did not compare well.

Hand pulled at the Stalybridge Buffet Bar. Beautiful looking beer - ruby glinted and brown. Oh dear, flavour does not live up to it’s looks. Bland, papery and not too nice.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2010 Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2009. Very dark brown/deep mahogany with lasting bubbly tan head. Quite a yeasty aroma. Very drinkable, bit tight on tongue. May need a day to open up the flavours. Decent coffee and choc. Quite light. 3.0/5.0 Re-rate Cask handpull at Ye Cracke, Liverpool. Deep brown, lasting dark beige head. Dark fruit with some malt on aroma. Little roasted malt presence. More like sweet dark plum, jammy, blackberry flavours. It’s super to be honest. Great mild. Only vague sting on finish, but the fruity malts are brilliant.

Cask conditioned handpump Ye Cracke, Liverpool. A very dark ruby coloured mild with a tiny off white head. The aroma is dry and thin and lacking substance. Better in the mouth with some fruit. A real mild mild which could do with a higher flavour profile. Drinkable but plain.
