COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
South Seas Pale Ale- "A Pale Ale with tempered bitterness and flavour" The tenth and final beer in our series showcasing New Zealand hops. Pacific Gem fills the brew house with enticing aromas during the copper addition producing oaken flavours with a distinct blackberry aroma. This hop does not carry the punchy aromas usually associated with higher alpha hops but contains a good balance of oils and makes its presence felt through an excellent tempered bitterness and flavour. “A master of consistency.”

Cask handpull, The Chandlers Arms, Shearsby, arse end of Leicester, 08/05/11. Pale gold with a slim white collar. Thai aroma; galangal, lime and lemongrass. Odd and floral like a mouthful of incense; biscuit malt fullness packed with condition, dominant galangal and floral soapiness combined with hardcore, flinty northern shampoo-driven bitterness. Acquired taste? Peppery, chewed flowers like the Belgians attempting an IPA. Maybe PG is just one of those hops that works better with another. Quite a mouthful.
