COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special - March 2012.
First brewed in June ’11 as part of our U.S.A. single hop series, ’Simcoe’ is a dual purpose bittering/aroma hop bred by Yakima Chief Ranches and first released in 2000. Simcoe is a unique American hybrid. Although it is primarily a bittering hop, it gives a clean, pine-like aroma and taste with a slight hint of citrus. It is less astringent than other pine-like hops and has been highly sought after to make distinctive and unique Pale Ales and American Ales.

Clear light gold colour with a thin soapy white head. Smell of hops, butter, fruit (peaches). Juicy light thin body. Taste of sweet malt, wheat, peach skin with an orange citrus sour finish.

Cask conditioned at Cloisters Bar, Edinburgh. Pale gold with white head. There is a pleasant light body to this, carrying a hop with a pine needle character, quite sharp with a hint of perfume and rose petal. Finishes with a bitter orange note. Pretty good.

Cask at Cloisters. A golden beer that didn’t make me think of urine at all. Decent white head. Super passionfruity nose. Flavours of passionfruit and mango. A little sweet and a bit dry. Sweet passionfruit hop linger. Lovely!

Cask at Cloisters. Clear piss yellow, good creamy head. Fresh lemon & peach nose. Sweet bread up front, more bitter fruit and a big soapy, oily bitter finish. Not bad, quite soapy.
