Bierkrug (1666) - Idar-Oberstein (In East Africa), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - OCT 14, 2010
On tap in Austria. Pours clear straw color with a big frothy white head Classic wheat beer aroma, the banana scent, amongst the sour dough and citrus. Taste is fairly mild, with a dominant sourness, banana and wheat balances this nice.

An orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light note of wheat, while the flavor is sweet wheaty with light notes of caramel, leading to a dry wheaty end.

Anglofile (138) - Piti, GUAM - OCT 28, 2006
Bottle. Pours a yellow amber with a nice fizzy head that lasts longer than you’d expect. Lots of carbonation. Aroma consists of yeast, wheat, and cheese. Flavor is packed with yeast and SPAM. However, very smooth and refreshing. A soft finish and another nice brew from Allgauer Brauhaus.

JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 4, 2005
Slight gusher. Golden color with a huge off white head. Very mild aromas of wheat and light cloves. Pale malts and vanilla dominate the little flavor that resides in this brew. Hints of citrus and white grapes. The american lager of german wheats.

(500 ml bottle: $1.99 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Well, the nose is kinda weird with this one. It’s sweet and grainy on the surface, but something in the background reminds me of, oh, I don’t know, nail polish remover maybe, no that’s not it but whatever it is, it’s bad. As the beer warms, it becomes more dominant and more unpleasant. The flavor is mostly a strong blast of stale cardboard, with some sweetness and a light bitterness. Light to medium bodied, but how this beer feels in the mouth is of no consequence at this point. It’s a dark straw color, but instead of being fully clear, it pours hazy and stays hazy. The white head is of average size on the pour and maintains a thin but complete layer. Not what I’d call a pleasant drinking experience, but clearly, this beer is way past its prime and deserves a re-rate.
