09.05.2013. 0,5l Swing Top Bottle. Pan Panorama, Pisa, Italy. Dark brown colour with no head. Aromas of dark malt. Strong with alcohol and sweet malts. Very soft and clean beer with sweet malts and rich body. rather low bitterness.

Bottled, 0.50l. Clear mahogany color with large frothy tan-like head, no lacing and lively bubbles. Taste starts with rich toasted malt, followed refreshing fruity and with strong alcohol note. Mouthfeel is relatively plain for that style, while finish is warm alcoholic with mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium body, thick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Not that it was a cardinal mistake that I bought this beer, but it’s only average one...

Pours semi transparent reddish brown with a large off white head. The nose is dark fruit, cinnamon, cloves and brown sugar. The taste is high sweet, low bitter. Heller bock? I think not. Drinks like a belgian dark ale. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, the body is light and the finish is long. Not on par with style.

Bottled 0,50L. Dark golden color, lightly orange with a fraught aspect. Good foamy head resistance. Malty and alcoholic aroma, notes of caramel and lightly roast cereals. Round and medium crisp body, good bitterness and lightly smoked final.

Bottiglia da 50 cl. Color ambrato carico con schiuma nocciola di grana fine non molto persistente. Al naso frutta molto, molto matura a pasta gialla e sentori di tabacco. Al palato un pò deludente con sentori di frutta di caramello e un pò troppo lievito, finale abbastanza secco.

Discreta birra per essere una tedesca. Fatta bene ma nulla di eccezionale. Bella la bottiglia.

50cl bottle - Norbertus Kardinal Strong Ale, swing top bottle, 7.5%. Bright red color with a smooth creamy offwhite head. Nothing special on the nose. It has a soft malty components with a bit of fruity esters and a mild hoppy bitterness. Nothing more interesting, a powered up lager probably.

Assolutamente da evitare, ovvio che su questo pianeta ci sia decisamente di molto peggio, ma anche questa non scherza...

Label as Norbertus Kardinal 7.5 abv. Light beige creamy full lasting head. Dark copper colour. Aroma is moderately malty with fruity (green peach) with light caramel notes. Flavor is malty too with fruity (peach) and metallic tones, ending in a watery metallic finish. Light to medium bodied.

Golden with a small white head. Strong malty and grainy aroma. Sweet malty flavour with herbal hops and a nice bitter finish
