2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
bottle - pours light amber with a very small fizzy off-white head that dissipates almost immediately. At first the aroma is corny and sweet like an asian lager then as the beer warms it becomes maltier and less corny. The taste is rather sweet initially, there is the tiniest hint of caramel and the finish is dry and slightly bitter. I wasn’t impressed, there is certainly worse out there........but there is certainly a lot better too.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Amber body with a large, forthy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some lacing.
Light-to-moderate malty (bread) aroma with notes of hops (herbal) and alcohol (unpleasant solvent).
Light sweet flavour with a light bitter note more evident in the finish.
Light-to-medium body with watery texture; soft carbonation; metallic feeling and light alcoholic warming in the finish.
The overall feeling is of a somewhat attenuated beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Swing top bottle, 500 ml, bought in Italy and brought back home. Poured into a small tulip glass. ABV 7.5% on my bottle.
Very deep orange colour on the body, almost light amber. Crystal clear, with good activity in it. Two fingers of a soapy, off-white head, with average retention but with nice lacing left on the glass.
Aroma is very malty, with ripe pear, white stewed grapes and sugar and obvious alcohol after a light swirl of the glass.
Taste is sweet with alcohol notes, a bit too much at first but it mellows quickly enough. Very light bitterness that struggles to surface under all the malts. Some light fruit flavour notable mut not so distinguishable.
Medium thin body, average carbonation and quite dry on the palate.
Overall interesting heller bock.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled, 0.50l. Clear mahogany color with large frothy tan-like head, no lacing and lively bubbles. Taste starts with rich toasted malt, followed refreshing fruity and with strong alcohol note. Mouthfeel is relatively plain for that style, while finish is warm alcoholic with mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium body, thick texture and soft carbonation in palate. Not that it was a cardinal mistake that I bought this beer, but it’s only average one...

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours semi transparent reddish brown with a large off white head. The nose is dark fruit, cinnamon, cloves and brown sugar. The taste is high sweet, low bitter. Heller bock? I think not. Drinks like a belgian dark ale. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, the body is light and the finish is long. Not on par with style.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
50cl bottle - Norbertus Kardinal Strong Ale, swing top bottle, 7.5%. Bright red color with a smooth creamy offwhite head. Nothing special on the nose. It has a soft malty components with a bit of fruity esters and a mild hoppy bitterness. Nothing more interesting, a powered up lager probably.
