16.2° Plato.

(swing top bottle) Clear, amber to light-copper colour with a short and slightly off-white foamy head. Slightly sugary (cara)-malty aroma with notes of bread and molasses, also shy hints of alcohol. Sweet flavour with a restrained level of bitterness, medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Initially sweet cara-malty and not very complex taste with hints of metal and alcohol towards the sweetish finish. One-dimensional, a bit disappointing Bock. 15.I.14

Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep golden to light amber coloured, clear, mid-sized and lacy off-white head, alcoholic and metallic-toasty nose with a card boardy touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, quite soft and pretty light bodied; slightly lingering dryish bitter-sweet finish with a malty touch. Quite a monotonous brew…

Aroma of dark malts. Some sweetness. A little sweet. Lasting aftertaste with flavours of malt and malt sweetness.

Clear mahogany brown colour. Aroma of wood and sweet malts and brown sugar. Very rich and warming, sweet, malty flavour.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Darkish amber, mit very small head. Smells very malty, like sugared shreddies. When first swigged (quite timidly in this case, for whatever reason) there didn’t seem much to it; but in the afterthroat it did reveal itself a little. Indeed, a finish of honey, chewy malt and a little hidden alcohol. Quite pleasant, but not very assertive and lacks the personality to be a player.

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark orange brown with no head. Aroma is rich, boozy caramel and raisin malt. Taste has toffee malt to start with apple on the finish. Carbonation is low.

Bottle. Dark brown with a diminishing foam. Aromas are raisins with chocolate and weetabix. Dusty yeast with vinous notes and traces of banana. Flavours are sweet chocolate and toffee malts with gritty grain and plummy fruit and figs. Roasted malt with lemon. Herbal, dry and peppery on the finish. Pretty good.
