3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 EithCubes (3334) - - AUG 17, 2007
Bottle. Maybe it’s because it’s been a while since I’ve had a pils, but I really enjoyed this one. Spicy floral nose – big bouquet of flowers with some yeast. Pale yellow-golden body with ubiquitous, medium-strong carbonation and a rocky white lacing head. Taste is grassy and lightly bitter with nice floral overtones, light pale malt base. Bit of a crisp smack on exit. Body is on the lighter side of medium, very quaffable. Not as bitter as many a Pils, but still classically süddeutsch, and a very good one for every day – can drink a looot of this one.

750 ml glass, $2 @ Binny’s. Poured in my straight shot Trumer glass. Deep golden color, but with some floating bits. Puffy head that leaves some lace as it dwindles. Solid pils smell, though a touch of oxidation and maybe phenol. Initial taste impression is kind of watery. No date on the bottle, but I’m guessing it’s gotten old on the shelf. Gotta go with the consensus here; it’s another imported pilsener, a style that does not travel well.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 crossovert (2773) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 3, 2011
500 ml bottle.
Pours a pale straw color with a thick, tightly foamed brite white head that is a finger thick and lasts forever at 1 inch thick. It literally doesn’t recede. Tiny bubbles race towards the top of this crystal clear beer.
Theres a good malt/hop balance, it smells typical of the style with pale malts and slightly herbal hops. Perhaps a bit sweeter smelling than most.
The taste follows the smell, perhaps a bit more bitter than expected, slightly watery.
It is starkly average for a German pils, though above most american versions.

330 ml bottle in Austria. Color is hazy for a pilsener, medium golden, very little head. Aroma is musty, flavor is dry, with some bitterness in the finish. the flavor is below average, but it’s just not that good.

Bottle. Sweet grain and sour milk aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Moderately bitter grass hops and light malt flavor. Decent hops but not much else.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jodah52 (206) - Michigan, USA - APR 4, 2010
Cloudy gold. Very bready nose, with a good dose of hops. Astringent mouthfeel sets off a slightly bitter and slightly sweet taste. Aromas are faint; german bittering hops and a bit of grain. Decently crafted, but not a whole lot here.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Frank (2054) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 14, 2010
Golden yellow. Diminishing head of mixed bubbles leaves fine spots of lace. Nose is Nutty malts and grassy hops. Flavor is similar but possibly unbalanced toward sweetish malts, which is emphasized by slightly too gentle carbonation for a style. An alright beer. Unfortunately, mine tastes like it might have spent a bit too long on the boat over.
