COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Biere de Chocolat celebrates the long and lauded history of chocolate production in San Francisco. Our aim was to create a beer bursting with cocoa flavors and aromas, balancing sweet and savory to create a complex but quaffable chocolate brew. To accomplish this we partnered with Dandelion Chocolate in San Francisco to create this rich brew brimming with chocolate character. Working with the unique flavors of Dandelion’s single-source beans, we created this decadent beer by layering in smoked and dark-roasted malts with citrusy Ivanhoe hops from Clearlake, CA. Finally, we added a blend of hand-roasted cocoa beans sourced from Madagascar and Río Caribe, Venezuela. The Madagascar beans add bright berry-cocoa flavors, while the Río Caribe adds dark chocolate and bourbon notes. A touch of vanilla rounds out the supporting flavors to create an eminently drinkable beer that is a chocolate lover’s beer through and through.

pours a clear black with a medium size tan head, and some lacing. smell is of cocoa, vanilla, and some roasted malt. taste is of chocolate, roasted malt, and some vanilla. ends smooth and slightly thick.

Pours nearly black with a thin than head. Aroma of sweet, rich chocolate and a bit of roasted malt. Flavor follows, with a huge, rich, creamy chocolate character atop roasted malt. Very chocolatey, done really well. I love it.

This brew is a brownish-black pour with a medium tan head that recedes slowly to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and vanilla. Light to medium body with a Belgian chocolate flavor with some malt and vanilla behind it. The finish is sweet with a cocoa and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Very dark and somewhat dense looking pour with a frothy tan head. Aroma is cocoa powder, vanilla, and milk chocolate. I wish the palate was more full and creamy for this flavor palate. Somewhat roasty and dry on the finish.

Darker malts, dry roasted earth, and big chocolate notes. Earthy cocoa. Pours dark brown, tan head. Flavors of earthy chocolate, nice pleasant sweetness, earthy dry roast. chocolate flavors throughout. Really enjoy the smoothness, balance, and showcase of chocolate. Pleasantly drinkable. Well done beer.

Dark pour pour big tan head. Aroma of milk, coffee, leather, grain, caramel roasts. Tastes like heavily tannic coffee and chocolate. Very acidic mouthfeel. The bitterness is also out of control. Too much nibs going on here. Needs more creaminess and more body to go with the creamy flavors. Also is chalky on the finish.

(draught at brouwers cafe) near black, dark tan creamy head and excellent lacing. Nose of big vanilla bean, dry chocolate, citrusy hops, raisins. Rate is more citrus than one would expect, dry cocoa, vanilla bean, the bean is a little overwhelming and almost like extract. More of a vanilla beer than a chocolate one for me. roasty finish thats also a little bitter.
