COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Biere de Chocolat celebrates the long and lauded history of chocolate production in San Francisco. Our aim was to create a beer bursting with cocoa flavors and aromas, balancing sweet and savory to create a complex but quaffable chocolate brew. To accomplish this we partnered with Dandelion Chocolate in San Francisco to create this rich brew brimming with chocolate character. Working with the unique flavors of Dandelion’s single-source beans, we created this decadent beer by layering in smoked and dark-roasted malts with citrusy Ivanhoe hops from Clearlake, CA. Finally, we added a blend of hand-roasted cocoa beans sourced from Madagascar and Río Caribe, Venezuela. The Madagascar beans add bright berry-cocoa flavors, while the Río Caribe adds dark chocolate and bourbon notes. A touch of vanilla rounds out the supporting flavors to create an eminently drinkable beer that is a chocolate lover’s beer through and through.

Amazingly unusual chocolate porter. Chocolate through and through, in aroma, taste, and "linger." But is not a chocolate bomb or a liquid candy bar! The base porter is ever present and adds a complexity and roastiness to the beer. Recommended! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark with no head. Smells like dark chocolate. Taste like cold cocoa with a little coffee. An alcoholic mocha. Leaves a little bitter coffee/chocolate residue.

On draft at Tap 25 in Livermore and enjoyed in the company of Livermore spokesman, ratebeer’s own, joeneugs. It pours deep chocolate darkness with a tan head of foam. The aroma is full of chocolate and coffee and fully roasty malts. The taste delivers a firm chocolate to dark chocolate goodness and rolling toward dark roasted malts and dark roasted coffee. Damn tasty stuff.

On draft at Tap 25 with Ibrew2or3. This one pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is straight up chocolate. It starts out powdery and then melds into a milky sweetness with hints of toast. Maybe a slight hint of vanilla, but not very strong at all. Super potent and inviting. The flavor isa tad dryer than the aroma would suggest with milk chocolate, toast, and roasted malt near the finish. Not much vanilla, but a hint of smoke takes its place. Pretty much one note on the chocolate, but more complex than most. Pleasing finish. Very nice new chocolate beer that I plan on revisiting often.

Delicious chocolate stout, I’m biased towards these stouts and this was late in the tasting game, but I thought it was absolutely fantastic.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark, dark brown with a 3 finger creamy tan head. Aroma is very chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is dark bitter chocolate that relaxes a bit on darkness. Then it seems coffee comes out. Firm flavors. Finishing tasty and bitter.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddfish brown with a small lasting creamy brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, bittert chocolate and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bakers cocoa, light earthiness and a hint of vanilla with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

Pours nearly black with a thin than head. Aroma of sweet, rich chocolate and a bit of roasted malt. Flavor follows, with a huge, rich, creamy chocolate character atop roasted malt. Very chocolatey, done really well. I love it.
