3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Aug. 2013, bottle from City Beer, SF - Batch no. 1) The colour of this one is very mesmerizing; like a very early orange-red sunrise seen through a fair fog. The aroma is extremely saliva inducing - so sour, you get the wood and the sour cherries - the word "spontaneous" pops up hard. The taste; insanely sour, followed by by discrete wood and slight sweetness. Like a very sour red wine with sourdough bacterias. Not too complex, but heavenly tart!

hazy orange. Sour tannin on the nose. Almost a vinegar quality. Nice and sour, without being a killer. Really nice oak character.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by hoppypocket. Beautiful hazy amber pour with off-white head and decent lacing. Aroma is rather discrete for an american sour with oak, light red wine, cherries. Flavors are well integrated. Brown sugar complements the red fruits sourness. Rather full bodied. Although there is some caramel/brown sugar notes, it lacked sweetness to be considered a good example of the Flanderís Red style. Although, it is not very sour nor vinegary compared to most attempts at the style from US brewers.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (375 ml). Shared by Hoppypocket, thanks! Slightly hazy golden/orange with a small fully lasting beige head and good ever lasting lacing. Aroma is of cherries with light winey notes, peaches/apricots, oak and caramel. Taste is also of cherries, oak, caramel, light wine, peaches/apricots and light vanilla. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Good Sour. Not sure this is a perfect example of a Flander Red, but itís definitely a good Sour Ale with Cherries. The barrel treatment is subtle but effective. Good!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
GABF 2013. Pours a reddisho orange appearance with a white head. Funky, tangy black cherry, vinous, raspberry, barnyard aroma. Really easy drinking flavor with flavor of sour cherries, funky fruits, light vinegar, and a touch of caramel. As I remember, jcnielsen didnít particularly care for it, but Iím kind of regretful that I didnít go back for more pours.
