COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison aged in wine barrels with plums, Cabernet, concord, and muscat grapes. Our first California Wild Ale is brewed with a blend of Cabernet and Muscat grapes from Alfieri Farms, Concord grapes from Hamada Farms, and plums from Twin Girls Farm – all located in the fertile San Joaquin valley. Aged for over a year in used wine barrels, this sour ale blends rich flavors of the 2011 Autumn harvest with farmhouse funk. Enjoy with aromatic Taleggio cheese and rich duck confit.

Quite plummy in the nose, reminds me of my childhood summers when my grandmother would bring home fresh plums from the flea market. Lightly tart, with a definitely plum-dominant flavor, though hints of grape do linger. Not particularly musty/farmhouse, but a very good American fruit sour.

Bottle share at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Thanks Derek and Erin! Small snifter. Pours a yellow-orange with foamy white head. Good lacing. Strong aroma of wine and grapes with brett, barnyard, and other fruits. The taste was funky, wine, sour grapes and cherries, wood, and yeasts. Very refreshing, some carbonation, sour finish. Did I say funky?

375mL from Blue Palms, Hollywood. Clear sparkling gold to orange. Medium fizzing white foam. Actually nice lacing. Cheesy, pretty funky bleu cheese nose like some Berliner Weisses. Taste is fresh and tangy RR Temptation style. Bright white wine and refreshing tart green apple and unripe nectarine. Lactic, refreshing. Great, long leathery finish. Similar to Temptation. No acetic.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, aroma brings notes of grape juice, white grape skins, hints of oak, tannins, touch of white fruits with apricot, hints of cracker and biscuit, nice lactic note as well with a hint of spice. Taste is a mix of nice lactic lemon, hints of oak, biscuit, bread, nice spice, touch of tannins, lots of nice white grape, some slight red grape as well, finishing lactic, tart and fairly bitter.

Bottle @ home, via trade with bytemesis. Thanks Mike! Pours a hazy golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. Actually somewhat cheesy, quite funky, red grape, plum, basement aroma. Plum, big red grape, somewhat oaky, red wine, quite funky, moderately tart flavor. One of the best grape sours that I’ve had in quite a while.

Bottle at Jupiter Sour Sunday. Pours dark orangish gold. Aroma is strawberries and parmesan cheese -- weird. Flavor is strongly grapey, sweet red varieties mainly, plus some stone fruit and a strong lactic sourness that includes bleu cheese. More acid and less cheese makes this a great beer, but for now it’s just decent.

375 ml bottle courtesy of BMan1113VR (thanks Andrew!) poured a clear tarnished gold with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of straw, plum, concord grapes, vinous notes and light oak. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of straw, vinous notes, light plum and light oak with a crisp dry lightly tart finish.

Bottle shared by Tony. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Vinous aromas. Berry and white grape highlights with woody vinous low lights. Good mouthfeel and body.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Yellow-orange pour with a white head. The aroma is pure funk. I get a lot of blue cheese notes as well as some lemons and oranges. The flavor is more tart than funky. I get some lemon and orange notes, as well as some Belgian yeast. There is also some funk in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice sour.
