COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison aged in wine barrels with plums, Cabernet, concord, and muscat grapes. Our first California Wild Ale is brewed with a blend of Cabernet and Muscat grapes from Alfieri Farms, Concord grapes from Hamada Farms, and plums from Twin Girls Farm – all located in the fertile San Joaquin valley. Aged for over a year in used wine barrels, this sour ale blends rich flavors of the 2011 Autumn harvest with farmhouse funk. Enjoy with aromatic Taleggio cheese and rich duck confit.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden amber with a small off-white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is tart, cherry, lemon, fruit, touch of hay. Flavor is the same, with a bit of red wine. Light sweet and light plus tartness leading to a dry finish. Just a bit of woody astringence from the barrel treatment. Medium body, champagne-like mouthfeel. Quite the nice beer.

Capped 375 from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very hazy orange with traces of a white head. Aroma is sour mixed fruits. Quite sour! Med body. Mildly fizzy carb. Flavor is sour and vinous. Also non-dark pitted fruit. Could be peach or plum. This is quite sour, but not so sour it destroys the mouth. Finishes like grapes and unripe plum skins. Some oak astringent is discernible at the very end. Quite tasty.

On draft at the 2013 SF beer week opening celebration. It pours a pale yellow/orange with an off white head. The aroma is grapefruit sour, mild musty hay funk. Peachy with hint of white vinegar. The flavor is clean grapefruit sour with hints of pepper and white vinegar. A little hay, but mostly clean grapefruit, sour tart goodness. Yummers!

On tap at Jupiter Sour Sunday. Pours cloudy orange with a thin white head and a cheese aroma (in a good way). There is a sour fruit flavor that lingers on the palate and a nice yeast presence.

Draft release for SF Beer Week.. Solid. More sweet red fruit nuances then the Reserve #2. Tart red fruit, likely influence if the Pinot Noir barrel. I think it might be a bit fuller bodied then #2 also. A solid release from Almanac. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

On tap. Cloudy yellowish brown with no head. Sour green apple, plum, grape, funky wine barrel aroma and taste with some fantastic tart fruit flavors and some nice candy sugar notes. Very good.
