Ale Aged In Wine Barrels With Strawberries and Nectarines When summer comes to Californiaís Farmerís Markets, the stands explode with mountains of mouth watering stone fruit and plump strawberries. Aged in used wine barrels for a year, this refreshing & tart wild ale was made with sweet coastal strawberries from Swanton Berry Farms and high-summer crimson baby nectarines from Blossom Bluff Farms. Hereís to our California summer harvest!

Bottle. Thanks for sharing, Sean! Wow. This really put Almanac on the map for me. The aroma on this is one of the best smelling and most intense aromas Iíve ever whiffed, an intoxication, pungent green raspberry and tangerine skins. Itís strong, itís pure, itís clean, itís sour. And thatís most of the body in this beer. The singular fruit flavors really fade on the palate, but I really enjoy the quality of the sour acid, lacking any of the gamey ethyl acetates, acetones, or foot flavors. Itís a really clean, soft, delightful sourness.

Bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours a clear yellow color with a medium white head. A big woody nose with huge berries. The main flavor is strawberries, some woody and yeasty notes, drinkable and tasty. Light tartness and sweet fruit.

Aromas of light strawberry and sotne fruit, a nicely sour brew with some tart berry flavors.

Bottle. Pours a medium to light golden with medium to high white head. Aroma is initially slight strawberry with the nectarine and peach skin aroma coming in at the end. Funk plays a role as it warms. Taste is much more nectarine and stone fruit forward with just a hint of sweet, ripe strawberry about the last 20% of the taste. Dry mouthfeel really plays well lending itself from the wine. Overall, this is one of the best American sour/wild ales outside of Russian River. Even then the fruit here might make it better than Russian River as they dial this one in.

Wow this was good. Aroma is big time peach, nectarine, strawberry, lemon zest, banana, berries, funk, and yeast. Hot damn! I love these fruity sours. Pour is apricot colored with a nice white head. Flavor is well balanced and very drinkable with tons of funk and barnyard flavors but still subtle hints of strawberry jam, peaches, and grapefruit. This is great!

Pours hazy golden with low white head. Aroma of green grapes, apples, bretta, grass, light earth and barnyard. Taste is very rich and fresh sour with just a hint of balancing sweetness. Mouthfeel is light and fresh with a very crisp and champagne like touch. Incredibly dry. A very, very good sour ale.

375ml bottle, received as an extra from Kevin. Thanks! Pours a golden amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is fruity, light strawberry and nectarine, some citric lemon, some yeasty sourness. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is lightly sour, lemon, some fruity sweetness, very light strawberry, with a light sour finish. Well done.

Bottle split with a small crew. Pours hazy golden with light head and lace. Aromas are sweet berry, mineral water, wood, and light funk. Taste is strawberry jam, fruit rollup, fruit snacks, and fruit by the foot. Really earthy and just the right amount of tartness. Light to medium body, silky palate. Excellent.

Poured Golden with very little head. Smelled of cider and a bit of wood. The strawberries are very subtle. Cider taste, like a carbonated sour water. Had this with dinner, but I wish I had it on itís own.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a hazy gold with a peach hue and a bubbly white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has a really nice light tartness with a touch of citrus, flora and light barnyard. Flavor behind tart with citrus and mellows to let some light fruits and funk to come through.
