Ale Aged in Wine Barrels With Cara Cara Oranges, Meyer Lemons, and Buddha’s Hand Citrons. This tart, citrus-infused wild ale is the story of a farm. In 1921, Shotaro Hamada founded Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley. Today, his grandson Cliff manages 235 acres of bountiful land. Brewed with a tantalizing blend of Hamada’s winter citrus - Tart Cara Cara Oranges, sweet Meyer Lemons and fragrant Buddha’s Hand Citrons - This refreshing ale is aged in used wine barrels for over a year.

Tap: slight haze on a yellow pour with thin white head. Aroma is lemony with a slight bit of honey and funk...almost citronella-like. Flavor is tangy lemon with some honey sweetness and a bit of yeasty funk. A bit one dimensional but refreshing and tasty...not one I would go to often.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Citrus aroma. Citrus flavor with sour/acetic notes. Medium bodied. Orange/lemon lingers with sour/acetic notes.

Tap at Library Alehouse. Clear glowing orange. Wispy foam. Nose is similar to barrel aged stillwater cellar door with fresh blood orange, key lime, sage, grapefruit, some buttery oaked chardonnay, salt and pepper seasoned grapefruit. Taste brings extensive lactic acid all encompassing, key lime, grapefruit, sour unripe peach. Mild sage and salt. Another boss sour from Almanac. Russian River sacrilegious level of quality.

Smells like white peppercorn, tasted like Christmas tree, not as good as number one or two

Citrus Citrus Citus, Sour tart and yummy, perfect after hot work out. Light yeast at end with very slight wood. Overall another great beer from Almanac!

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours bubbly gold with a disappearing white head and a citrus aroma. There is a pleasantly sour fruity light malt flavor with a mellow yeasty finish. Very refreshing and tasty.

On draft at Beer Revolution. Wow, this was one interesting beer. It pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma is surprisingly leafy and floral with the citrons and lemon coming through strong with perfume. Even more so in the flavor. Clean with lots of sour, floral lemons and a bit of sweeter orange notes coming mid palate. The finish is clean with more floral perfume and lemon/orange fruit. It has a fuller mouthfeel than #3, but still pretty light. Very little funk. Good balance. Can’t wait to try this one again.

Bottle from DBS. Aroma and flavor of Meyer lemons, and slight Cara Cara oranges. I got a slight Alka Selzer tinge after drinking this for a while. Otherwise, it was excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy/dirty gold with a slight white head. Aroma is earthy, funky citrus. Sour even. Med body. Flavor pretty much the aroma. At first the mouth is torn asunder, but as fatigue ensues it simply becomes a "smooth" tart/sour earthy/funky citrusy wonderful ale. Not getting much oak, but that’s cool.
