COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale Aged in Wine Barrels With Cara Cara Oranges, Meyer Lemons, and Buddha’s Hand Citrons. This tart, citrus-infused wild ale is the story of a farm. In 1921, Shotaro Hamada founded Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley. Today, his grandson Cliff manages 235 acres of bountiful land. Brewed with a tantalizing blend of Hamada’s winter citrus - Tart Cara Cara Oranges, sweet Meyer Lemons and fragrant Buddha’s Hand Citrons - This refreshing ale is aged in used wine barrels for over a year.

Bottle from DBS. Aroma and flavor of Meyer lemons, and slight Cara Cara oranges. I got a slight Alka Selzer tinge after drinking this for a while. Otherwise, it was excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy/dirty gold with a slight white head. Aroma is earthy, funky citrus. Sour even. Med body. Flavor pretty much the aroma. At first the mouth is torn asunder, but as fatigue ensues it simply becomes a "smooth" tart/sour earthy/funky citrusy wonderful ale. Not getting much oak, but that’s cool.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2014 A - pours slightly hazy light amber straw with very low white head that immediately disappears. S - really nice subtle aromas’ that are every bit a sour. Lemon verbena, fresh lemon, subtle funk, and fresh thyme(?). Must be the citron. M - tart but not overly so like a lambic. Subtle tart, sweet and dry ish balance. Light and refreshing. T - really refreshing subtle yet complex tastes. Lemon and grapefruit juice meld with fresh almost minty herbs (lemon verbena and thyme) up front. The palate is subtle white wine, fresh squeezed tart citrus juice with light simple sugar. End is dry grasses, lightly tart citrus and herbs. I’m assuming the citron plays a hand though I don’t know what it is exactly O - really interesting complex but subtle sour. Another strong showing by almanac so far. Like temptation with more tartness and more complexity.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly. Sour/tart, citrus, lemon. Another great sour from Almanac. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
