COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale Aged in Wine Barrels With Cara Cara Oranges, Meyer Lemons, and Buddha’s Hand Citrons. This tart, citrus-infused wild ale is the story of a farm. In 1921, Shotaro Hamada founded Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley. Today, his grandson Cliff manages 235 acres of bountiful land. Brewed with a tantalizing blend of Hamada’s winter citrus - Tart Cara Cara Oranges, sweet Meyer Lemons and fragrant Buddha’s Hand Citrons - This refreshing ale is aged in used wine barrels for over a year.

Sampled at GABF 2013. Pours a clear gold with some filmy, white head. Nose has some spice, some funk, pith, pepper, some vitamin C tablet. Flavor is the same, peppery, lemon, malt, pithy, spice. Balanced finish.

The flavor is a little bit more tame in terms of the citrus peel profile, and, yes, far more tart than I expected it to be. There’s an immediate sharp flavor of lemon and orange peel, as well as a juicy, sour sensation of drinking fresh squeezed, unsweetened lemonade with spices added. Notes of dried leaves, ginger, tart grapes, roses, and herbs waft to mouth, producing a sensation that is delicious and complex. The finish is a little sweeter, with notes of vanilla and grapes, as well as an everlasting aftertaste of lemons, oranges, and fresh flowers. Very well carbonated, as far as the style goes - slightly syrupy and juicy enough to serve as a strong backbone for the excessive citrus within. Very well made.

Thanks to tastybeer for cracking this alongside the #3. I think this one might be better but either is worth drinking. A fine sour balances the base beer against its vinous aspects to form a memorable experience.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden semitransparent base glows with a stiff white head providing contrast. Lemons, wet blankets, citrus, and dry yeast stick in the air like a fresh load of laundry alongside musty damp books.

Flavor / Palate - Lemons, dryness, and the taste of horse blanket fuse into a tart profile. Dry and bretty this has a dash of white wine yet still is mostly sour. The citrusy finish wraps up an excellent beer with style. I hope there are more of these and that I get a chance to try them.

Pleasant lemony sour ale, from Craftshack. The citrus lends a nice complex citrus taste. Just great warm weather afternoon drinking.

On draft at Churhills Pub. A great sour punch in the palate. Strong lemon overtones with a hint of white wine. A great sour that is very enjoyable.

Bottle through trade, semi clear dark yellow pour with minimal head. Aroma of white wine, lemons, oranges, get some lime notes, just a big citrus punch. Taste is the lemon tart up front then the cara cara comes in, love this series. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
