Ale Aged in Wine Barrels With Cara Cara Oranges, Meyer Lemons, and Buddhaís Hand Citrons. This tart, citrus-infused wild ale is the story of a farm. In 1921, Shotaro Hamada founded Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley. Today, his grandson Cliff manages 235 acres of bountiful land. Brewed with a tantalizing blend of Hamadaís winter citrus - Tart Cara Cara Oranges, sweet Meyer Lemons and fragrant Buddhaís Hand Citrons - This refreshing ale is aged in used wine barrels for over a year.

Pours a hazy yellow/orange with a medium white head...nice color, nice retention. Aroma has nice fresh citrus...orange and lemon...with nice accents of bretty funk and citrus rind...very refreshing! Flavor has sour orange...puckering...followed by lemon creeping in...nice and tart. Mouthfeel is light and silky with a nice tart/rindy/grassy citrus finish that has a hint of vanilla. Gorgeous beer!

Kick ass beer. Oh yeah. Sparkling gold with a nice white head. Perfect lactic sourness, perfect amounts of unique citrus character, carbonation is spot on. This beer really is awesome.

A- Pours a beautiful tangerine color with an off white head that sticks around for quite a while. S- Funky, sour, citrus, lemon rind. T- Floral citrus, lemon rind, wheat, a hint of sourness up front and on the back end. M- Medium bodied with ample carbonation. D- I really enjoyed this beer. The floral aspect of the citrus was a little powerful for me and iím interested to see if that will drop out with age.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden amber with a shall off white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is tart lemon, funk, barnyard. Flavor about the same, fruity, citric, light tartness, quite dry. Medium body, bubbly carbonation. Very nice.

Pours a pale yellow. Very light in color. Mild haze, but it might have just been a good pour. Small white head, somewhat rocky. Decent retention and a tiny bit of lacing. The aroma is dominated by spicy citrus. The citron comes through strong, and you get a heavy dose of that citrus rind flavor. Itís such a sharp note that it reminds of the fresh ginger in Farmerís Reserve #2. The Cara Cara oranges come through as well with that berry-ish orange flavor. The Meyer lemon is a bit more in the background, but itís there if you look for it. The flavor just seems a tad delicate against the citron and Cara Cara. Thereís a definite lactic sourness in the mix, as well. Some mild funk. No real malt presence. The taste is a blend of sourness, funk and citrus. Very nice combination. Thereís a touch of cheesiness to the funk, particularly in the finish, but otherwise, this is the cleanest of the Farmerís Reserve series, so far. Bright, refreshing sour citrus flavor. Some more of that spicy rind flavor, but more of the Meyer and Cara Cara delicacy shines through in the taste. Lasting lemon, orange, berry finish with some firm acidic sourness. Very light malt thatís kept well in the background. Mouthfeel is light and lively. This is really good stuff. Itís great to see Almanac improve with this line of sours, and itís even better to see them improve within the line. Iím very much looking forward to more.
