COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We love blackberries. Tart, sweet and complex but guarded by thorny branches, these alluring fruit have been a favorite of ours since we added them to our very first beer. This sour blonde ale is infused with loads of coastal Blackberries from Swanton Berry Farm in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains and aged in wine barrels for many months. Pair with duck dishes and summer salads.

opaque between peach pink and carrot red color, little lacing round the edges. effervescent scent, yeast, sweet honeysuckle, cardboard, taste is hard too put my finger on, light, getting some berry, reminding me of their rasperry offering last summer. I don’t know, much like a fruity wine.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a small foamy head. Aroma of tart and sour notes with hint of blackberry is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by tart and sour notes with hints of blackberries. Some vinous notes are also noticeable but I would not say that oak plays a major role. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation.

Lightly purple blush on cloudy yellow. Standard Almanac nose and flavors, but nice dry blackberry fruit in the flavors which are often lost in a lot of these Almanac beers for me. Tasty if not a stand out from most of their other golden sours.

Served in a Teku straight from the bottle, aged for ~8-10m after purchase. Aroma - inviting aroma that reeks of white wine barrels and sour berries. Impressed. Appearance - cloudy, hazy, orangish, opaque hue that reminds me of the appearance of Westbrook’s Gose. Berry residue settles @ bottom of the glass. Taste - I have to admit -- I have not had many blackberry sours. I have had a decent number of world class sours, but very few blackberry sours. That said, this is hands down delicious and unlike other sours I have encountered. The blackberry flavor is subtle, but evident, especially as the beer’s astringency shines through with each sip. The white wine barrels dovetail brilliantly with the blackberries, which augment the tartness delightfully well. Overall, I am extremely happy I drank this beer now. I could not have asked for anything more out of it. I appreciate all of the craftsmanship that went into this one, and highly recommend this to any sour fan/collector.

Aroma is sour and acidic. From the first sip taste is very tart and sour. As you continue drinking complexity and sweetness of berries comes out. I am not a huge sour fan but this one is very good. But one is enough for me...

375ml bottle thanks to bytemesis! Pours hazy pale orange with pink tint and small fizzy head. Nose is tart wet wood funk, attic, dry berry, toasty oak, acidity. Taste is crisp acidity, light soggy grain, mixed tart blackberry, cherry, strawberry, some light musty wine, jolly rancher, and funky oak. A little undercarbed maybe. Finish is tart grain, dry wood, oak funk, vinous tart berry and a touch of cereal. Another solid sour offering from Almanac!

Bottle - pours light cloudy yellow, hint of red. Slight fruit in the nose plus sour/tartness. Very tart up front, no much fruit in this one.

Mildly strange sourish smell. Low carbonation with a bit of foam. Tastes like a sour brown or something going down but it does have tart blackberry in the aftertaste.

Purple body amd tinged head, terrific fruit based sour, drinks very well, not overly sweet, blackberry is nice and tastes less ripe and more bitter.

[ Bottle ][ ½ of 37.5cl ][ Tasting ][ Trade ][ Snifter ][ 9.25.14 ]
Dark cola body, thin cream ring, wispy head. Oxidized burnt cocoa nose, lightly buteric acids, weird roast and sour contrast with flabby esters, bubblegum, and booze. Bad hodge podge. Palate smoother, light roast with more blackberry, sourness present in thin body, acid and bitterness cut any fruit sweetness, slick body fights with the roast.

Bottle. Pinkish rust orange hue, pure white head. Blackberry seeds, earthy, sour, some slight lacto, hay, and dry cobweb in the aroma. Flavor is more tart than the others in the fruit beer range for them, tart unripe berries, seeds, slight hay. Lighter tangy body.
