Citrus and beer have always made a great pair, ever since the first lemon wedge was added to a cold wheat beer. Here we expand on that tradition in a new way, melding the intensely aromatic zest of Buddha’s Hand citrons with the bracing tartness of Bergamot oranges in a sour blonde ale aged in wine barrels. Pair with sushi or flakey white fish or contrast with earthy roasted root vegetables.

From a 50 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear pale gold with an off white head. Vinous nose. Flavors of white wine and orange. Refreshing tart finish.

375ml bottle. Hazy yellow golden color with almost white head. Malty and light yeasty aroma, light funky, cheese, citrus, caramel, wood, light cherry. Sweet, light acidic and light bitter. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Poured a yellow color with aromas of citrus, light wine, some sourness, some light wet wood, and some funk. Flavors are nice citrus and sour up front with some light wine in the back end, light and refreshing. Could drink this all day, sad I only have one bottle.

375ml into pint. Aroma: sour citrus, sour yeast, white wine. Appearance: hazy yellow, no head. Taste: tart white wine, oak, citrus. Palate: thin carbonation, sour, balanced. Really good representation of a citrus sour.

375 ml bottle 2014 vintage poured a clear gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of straw, orange zest, lemon zest, white wine and light oak. Palate was light bodied and crisp with dry tart finish. Flavors of straw, lemon zest and white wine with a crisp dry tart lingering lemon zest finish.

Pours clear blonde, white head fades instantly. Smell is sharply sour, some malty tones as well, but no sweetness. Taste is dry, sharp sourness, citrussy tones are there, but not in an overly intense way, not per se much more than other sour beers might have without the adding citrus fruits. No oranges or wine notes to be found... It does feel wattery, and to high on carbo though. Not of the same quality as some other sours these guys did..,

Bottle as pictured. Poured a golden yellow, some carbonation. Couldn’t really distinguish any fruits in particular and I’m not really sure what a citron tastes like. Nice tart citrus flavor but not overly puckering. Really a balanced sour beer.

you can definitely tell Almanac’s sours apart from others - they have a liquid sourdough thing going on in addition to the winey twang and citrus, and like all the others, quite good.

Clear bright gold yellow. Nose of lemon and light wheat. Crisp with light lemon tartness. Was great with sushi, but second fiddle to the Rare Barrel Soliloquy.

Pours hazy yellow quirky nose but excellent orange lemon tartness. Such a delicious refreshing golden citrus tart beer. I could drink this every day.
