COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pluots are some of our favorite fruits. Created by cross-breeding apricots and plums, there are dozens of varieties with an amazing range of color and flavor. All through the summer, Blossom Bluff Orchards picks each variety at its peak: Dapple Dandy, Honey Punch, Flavor Queen, Black Kat & Dapple Jack were all added to a sour blonde ale and aged in wine barrels to create this funky oak-aged brew.

Bottle. Awesome all around. Hazy yellow. Aroma is tart citrus funk. The taste adds sweet sugar, honey, and apricot. Sweet dry apple juice notes on the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

375ml bottle pours a hazy golden color without much head. Medium sour and nice pluot flavor coming through. More fruit than other almanacs despite it being more of a subtle fruit.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong plum skin, oak, stone fruit. Thin mouth, tart plum, wood, very acidic but pleasantly sour, really good.

Poured from a 375ml bottle. The aroma is dusty, stone fruit/apricot, lemon, bready malts. The flavor is firmly acidic, apricot, fruity, berry, light malts character. This is one of the best Almanac beers I have had.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, fruit and tannic wood aroma. Medium to full body with a tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer for style.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2015 Pour is a hazy pale yellow. Aroma is reminiscent of one of those sickeningly sweet wines some women like to drink in college (Donít worry, the beer tastes incredible). Thatís probably the pluot. Iíve never had a pluot. Iím just assuming. By the way, a pluot is some sort of hybrid between a plum and an apricot, in case youíre wondering (I was wondering, and I found the answer on the label). Well, if Worf could drink prune juice on Star Trek: The Next Generation and remain an intimidating warrior, I guess I can drink a beer with something derived from a plum and keep my man card (Granted, I just brought Star Trek into a beer review, so I canít pretend Iím not a geek). Wow, the taste makes up for the aroma. Look at the point deviation between aroma and taste in my review, because this is like two different beers. The taste is very sour, like the outside of a sour patch kid on steroids without the sweet middle. I love this stuff. This is my first beer in this style, so I donít really know how to rate it to style, but if you have never had a sour and you like sour things, drink it. Ignore the aroma and take a sip, youíll be glad you did. Very nice. One finds that the sour outside dominating the taste profile upfront melts into more sourness with just a hint of that pluot stuff to lighten it up a little on backend. I donít think Iíd enjoy pluot in any other style, but they used it to perfection here taste wise. If I were a brewer, I might be tempted to dump some sort of aromatic hops that donít change the taste much into this to help on the aroma end- do that and this is a 4 star beer. In fact, Iím kind of tempted to give it four stars despite the aroma, but Iím not going to, because aroma is part of the rating formula, and I want to be honest with people browsing the page. But, really, itís definitely worth it to ignore the aroma and just drink this baby.

Bottle - light golden pour with white head. Tart nose of fruit peels. Taste is semi tart with hints of plum skins and grapes. Good stuff.

375ml shared by Ben. Nice plum aroma. Easy and drinkable, at least for my small pour. Leans a little into the overboard US sour tones. Solid. Very pleasant.

Lovely drinking sour. Middling mouthfeel. Little unusual colour. Tasty though not the absolute best almanac I have had.
