Our Golden Gate Gose is a special draft-only beer inspired by the classic wheat beer hailing from Leipzig, Germany. Traditionally brewed with salt and coriander, our tart California-inspried version is brewed with San Francisco Bay sea salt, lemon verbena and coriander grown especially for us by Dirty Girl Produce in Santa Cruz, California. Fermented with our house saison yeast, this delicate and tart beer is a perfect summer refresher. Pair with fresh seafood and sunshine.

A nice beer to look at, this gose lacks a lot in every other category. Its aroma is not very appealing and is actually kind of a drawback to the beer, and its taste and its aftertaste are both pretty weak.

Crystal clear, warm golden color with steadfast white head. It smells like you’re sitting in a sunny meadow after an afternoon of cartwheeling. Sweat, mineral water, and light floral, fruity notes. Rose petals, rainier cherries, a hint of apricot. Refreshing. Quite fizzy when it first hits the tongue. Full-bodied, yet light and springy, the mouthfeel more than the flavor, is how you experience this gose. The flavor is very delicate, floral, with a honeyed sweetness and lingering flavors of bubble gum and pineapple. The light salty sourness keeps you coming back. I am new to the gose style, but this seems a fitting introduction. Lacking some complexity, but a refreshing quaffer nonetheless.

Golden (EBC6), opal, white head. Aromas of wet wheat, mineral, lemon zest and a whaff of coriander. Soft carbonation, mildly thin texture, light bodied. Lemon zest, light sour-salty, tart with a hint of residual sweetness. Lasting tart finish. Refreshing!

Bottle. Clear golden yellow with an average whit head and decent lacing. Aroma is coriander, lemon, yeast, and faint citrus. Taste is lemons, citrus, coriander, and salt. Light and fairly well balanced.

Draught at Atwoods Tavern, 6/16/16.
Soft, minimally hazy, straw-golden body is topped by a small amount of white head that fades rather quickly to a ring.
Musty cellar notes, with very deep lactic hints mix with quite an abundance of spicing, most prominently coriander. Grainy, somewhat, with a good dose of salinity and a lot of grassiness. Light lemon oil-like notes on the finish with no alcohol or flaw.
Moderate carbonation is a bit fizzy, and the beer is very given to the spicing. Heavy coriander flavor adding spice and tons of grassiness, which creates some astringency, especially in the face of the sparse, somewhat grainy/husky malts. Very dry with salt and lactic acid notable. Needs a much better malt structure and less spice.

From the 22 oz bottle: Golden orange with bright white bubbles that disappear quickly. Smells of lemon, hints of rose, wet blankets. The flavor is tart without being very fruit forward, it seems to carry some dark wheat characteristics (dark caramel, banana, biscuit). It’s pretty good but I think it’s a little thin.

This beer could use more tartness and more saltiness, because it’s lacking in both. Dirty, a little cardboardy, light citrus. Not great.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2016 Nice very mild sourness, very clean, low carbonation. Easy drinking intro to sours. Not quite at the sourness level id like. BevMo SF.

On tap at McGillicuddy’s, Williston, VT. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a light transparent yellow color with some carbonation rising at a nice pace. No head and obviously no lacing. The smell started off with lemon, lime, lightly rimmed salt. The "sour-ed" wheat portion is extremely light but really good. The taste was sour through the wheat portion. Saltiness balances appropriately. Lemon and lime come back - slightly bitter yet tart. Nicely structured citrusy aftertaste. Finishes pleasantly balanced between the citrus and salt. On the palate, this one was definitely light bodied which gave it a great sessionability. Since the "sour-ness" is tame enough, the sessionability really becomes spectacular. Overall, if this is canned, I’d want cans for fishing this Summer. Really great gose!
