Our Golden Gate Gose is a special draft-only beer inspired by the classic wheat beer hailing from Leipzig, Germany. Traditionally brewed with salt and coriander, our tart California-inspried version is brewed with San Francisco Bay sea salt, lemon verbena and coriander grown especially for us by Dirty Girl Produce in Santa Cruz, California. Fermented with our house saison yeast, this delicate and tart beer is a perfect summer refresher. Pair with fresh seafood and sunshine.

22oz shared by Ryan. Sour wheat lemon tones. A touch of underlying off tones, but still nice and tasty. Solid offering overall.

Towering, if not very stable, dense & fine yellowish head over very carbonated clear golden beer. Outspoken spiced & herbal nose, fresh malt and old cloth. Again spices, malt and lemon (verbena), lactic acid. Donít get the mineral/salt touch - hence very refreshing. Light body. A nice twist on teh Gose; maybe due to the verbena, more akin to Berliner Weisse, IMO.

Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a fairly clear, golden hue, with a modest, and quickly reducing layer of white head foam, and a light, web-like look to the lacing. The nose was spice as coriander, maybe a little clove, light banana, apple & pear. Light bodied and dry, with some vinous character, and light tartness, but no noticeable saltiness, unless you take into account the mild seltzery nature of the carbonation. More as an unfinished wine than a Gose, imo.

Aroma is like a wit, wheat corriander and citrus. Appearance is golden clear with tiny head. Taste is salty wheat, corriander and citrus are kinda there but overtaken by the salt. Palate is dry and crisp. Overall Iím not impressed. Fairly lifeless with no yeast flavors. A boring wit with some salt in it . Not bad, just way overpriced.

Tap at First Draft in Chicago. The aroma is rubbery yeast. Light bodied, notes of cucumber, cooked vegetables, white pepper, white strawberries, gooseberries, with a sour - ish finish. I prefer my gose a bit saltier, but this is pretty good.

A steady pour into my teku glass produces a fat-two-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a lightly hazed, honey-gold hue when held up to the light, and shows a darker honey color otherwise. The aroma smells earthy, haylike, slightly tart, definitely like coriander, a little bit musty, and with just a touch of lemon zest like fruitiness.

Tart, effervescent and carbonic up front the beer picks up a fruity / herbal character towards the middle and finish where there is a bit of astringency; this last lingers on the palate with a tea like mouth coating character (though just a bit and not overwhelmingly so). There is a bit of green apple flavor here, and some lemon zest notes (these linger in the finish noticeably at times) that helps to balance a soft coriander flavor (that lingers quite strongly into the finish), a grassy herbal note, and something that is very slightly evocative of cinnamon. The pale malt / grain character contributes a hay like flavor, perhaps a touch of unsalted saltine crackers, and there is even a hint of saltiness to the finish.

This is a light, refreshing, slightly tart, and well balanced Gose. It is clean, and the coriander isnít so much that it dirties the experience.
