COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

Iím done with pumpkin beers. None of the dozens that Iíve tasted this year have been any good.

Kicking off GPBF with one of the best. Pours deep amber, light tan head. Smell strong caramel, english barley wine, sweet toffee and a strong brandy overtone. Taste sweet light roasty, caramel, light pumpkin spices. Bigger bodied. Pretty good.

GABF 2013. Deep brownish gold. Nose is terrific roasted pumpkin. Capture roasted pumpkin flesh it as good as any pumpkin beer Iíve ever had. Barleywine element is not cloying at all and terrifically restrained for the style. Not a spicebomb, pumpkin pie pumpkin beer, just a nuanced lighter barleywine.

i have to say that, even though im not really a pumpkin beer person, this is easily the best ive ever had. instead of being walloped with spices and sweetness, this makes for a great beer that just happens to have some pumpkin flavor notes in it. very well done.

On tap at GABF. Pours a dark golden. Huge nose of vanilla, spice and alcohol. Very smooth, starts boozy with a great pumpkin middle and brandy finish. This was a highlight of the night.

Bottle; Pour is slightly murky burnt sienna with a fine bubbled, off white head in this glass - its a modest head, with average retention, with some lacing present here as well. The nose is pumpkin pie spice initial, caramel and brown sugars, sweet breads, and a touch of booze. I really wanted this brew to be íthe oneí as far as pumpkin brews go (it still goes to rumpkin). Itís not. Anyway - its overly sweet initial: caramel, butterscotch, sweet bread, the brandy treatment adds some booze and apricot, moving to pumpkin spicing and pumpkin puree. It fades with a lingering, slight bitterness and a chewy mouthfeel overall -

On Tap 5oz pour at Elysianís Great Pumpkin Beer Festival 2013. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a medium tan head that leaves great lacing. Smells like an average barleywine with pumpkin, spices and brandy. Tastes like barlywin with a hint of oak, brandy, pumpkin, and spices. Mouthfeel is heavy and oily with good carbonation and a dry finish. Great pumkin barleywine which tastes awesome after being aged in a brandy barrel. Wish I could find this here in Washington besides just at the pumpkin beer festival.

This is an awesome barleywine. I don't usually care for beer with pumpkin but as a barleywine lover, this is a big exception. Gotta try to get a couple more of these. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to pint glass Aroma of pumpkin, plum, cinnamon, wheat and alcohol. Slightly hazy amber with a bubbly off white head and lots of effervescence. Strong alcohol that kills pretty much everything but the pumpkin.
