COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

375 ml bottle shared by dudeabide. Pours a dark amber / copper color with a thin off white film. The aroma and flavor have big pumpkin with the usual spices, some alcohol on the nose for sure, some hints of chocolate toward the finish, a touch of earth. Some wood and a splash of the barrel. Pretty solid offering.

Bottle to sniffer (shared by dudeabide). Looks good for the style; a semi-transparent orangish brown with off-white lacing. Smells solid; pumpkin, spice, and brandy. Tastes like it smells, only better, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

12.7oz bottle, shared by dudeabide. Labeled 12.8%, I believe. Mostly clear red -orange color. Thin off-white head, leaves nice lace. Really nice roasty pumpkin nose. Awesome roasted pumpkin in the flavor, light on the spice. Just a lot of big pumpkin. Way less alcohol taste than expected. Just a light but pleasant alcohol warmth in the finish, no burn or bite. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, lightly spicy. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Very complex, tasty pumpkin barley wine. Very unique stuff. I love it.

Bottle. Copper beer with a dark cream head. Spice and brandy aroma. Brandy and rich malt flavor with spice and light vegetal notes. Medium-plus bodied. Brandy and caramel lingers with spice, rich malt, and light vegetal notes.

Bottle. Maple color pour with little head. Nose of pumpkin, fall spices, and booze. Taste follows the nose with a hint of apple. A bit thin. Good but I wish it was a tad bit sweeter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From the bottle at Churchillís. Dark brown pour with a small off white head. Aroma is pumpkin heavy, taste brings pumpkin toffee and cinnamon spices. Pretty boozy as well. Very enjoyable.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2013 Bottle with dave, pours hazy brown with light head, not much lace. Aromas and Taste are dark Fruit, nutmeg, brandy barrel, pumpkin pie, and red grapes. Sticky mouth. Too sweet and boozy overall. Could be nice in a couple months if it smooths out. Packin some heat yo. Tried again much better...balanced brandy, pumpkin, and spice.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2013 375mL bottle, purchased at BeerCraft. Pours a deep caramel color; creamy, fine-bubbled, light-tan head; good retention and lacing. Generous, caramel- and candy-forward aroma, with cinnamon and nutmeg and a fair bit of oaky, raisiny warmth underneath; there seems to be the perception of pumpkin, at least. For me, this is a beer that toes a dangerously fine line between boozy and overly sweet, but this barleywine totally worked for me: a lively fine CO2 underneath everything, huge layers of caramel and toasty pumpkin / sugary notes, and a vinous and warming alcohol character that lightens the body; near the finish, candied notes and a rich brandy character come out; a very intense, autumn-feeling barleywine that I picked up extra bottles of. Iím not sure whether or not this is a guilty-pleasure beer, and I donít really care.

Bottle into snifter. Aroma is alcohol, chemical, light brandy, pumpkin spice, butterscotch. Pours an attractive hazy ruby/brown with a very thin beige head. Very sweet up front with a touch of nail polish remover. Tons of pumpkin spice. Almost too sweet, though, and quite hot. I had high hopes for this one. Itís not bad but it can definitely be improved upon.
