This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

On tap at DBS. Aroma is pumpkins, spice, and some nail polish. Flavor is, unfortunately, overwhelming nail polish. I can still taste the pumpkin, but Jesus. It's really hard to get past. Trouble is, aging it will mute the pumpkins, so it's a hot barleywine. Lower the ABV, please! Fair beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This good looking cloudy brown beer has a sweet pumping cinnamon aroma. It has a strong bitter taste. Smell is what I wish the beer tested like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

375 at my place with group. Aroma sharp nail polish, pumpkin. Taste is big smooth alcohol and pumpkin. Finish is quick for a barley wine. Mouthfeel is medium viscous.

Bottle. Rating #14. Dark amber brown with an off-white head. Sweet spice, nutmeg, brandy and booze. Smooth, pumpkin spice and a little more booze with a slight burn, good stuff. (2875)

Pumpkin pie spices and pumpkin flesh in aroma, rather faint. Flavor is hot and sweet, heavy cinnamon, astringent. Like if you sprinkled cinnamon on a pumpkin pie and got a bite with way too much on it.

Draught @ The Burgundian:   Reddish caramel, dark, moderate foamy sandy head, nice lacing.   Spicy nose, lots of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg.   Soft alcohol and what smells like the advertised Brandy.   Spices aren’t as strong on the tongue.   Instead its a rich malty and candied toffee background.   Barrel aging is noticeable, and compliments the beer well.   Very smooth, balanced, not over done with spices, warming, a bit chewy at times.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Finishes with a little barrel aged heat.   If that’s Brandy, its tasty!   This is the first one of the season, and so far it will be hard for others to top this one!

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours translucent dark copper with a creamy beige head. Aroma is spice. With a nasal bite! Almost tobacco. Full bodied. Flavor is a swirl of burnt veg, brown sugar, strong but subtle pie spice. In the end the spice wins, but it’s quite an experience. There’s not a hint of heat. Not even in the gullet. An amazing gustatory experience.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours orange brown with an attractive beige head and an aroma of fermented pumpkin. There is a hearty dark malt flavor with lots of pumpkin, spice, oak and brandy. Burns the tongue with alcohol. An interesting sipping beer, but not real user friendly.

Bottle. Pours clear red amber, medium creamy tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, some toffee, brandy. Nice. Flavor is like Thanksgiving, punkin and spices, medium sweet, light light bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. A bit hot perhaps, but otherwise perfect.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Pours copper color with just a bit of white head. Aroma is some pumpkin, ginger spice and alcohol. Taste follows with a nice sweetness and some toffee. A great fall beer.
