COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

Brown pour, average off-white head. Aroma of a spicy pumpkin pie, alcohol, Flavor is more of the same, caramel, spice. Probably my favorite pumpkin-themed beer thus far.

2/7/14 notes: Bottle. Pours a nice tarnished orange, with a good frothy head. Aroma is pungent smashed pumpkin, maple, cinnamon, marshmellow. With a creamy textured mouthfeel, flavor arrives naturally, a lightly sweet spiced pumpkin with a woodsy, earthy complement. Alcohol is perfectly integrated. An excellent creation, a real treat to be had especially on a cold late afternoon. 4.1.

This is a really nice beer that Iím honestly surprised I enjoyed as much as I did. Iím not the biggest fan of pumpkin beers, but the pumpkin and spice notes in the nose worked really really well. The brandy was present too, and a bit more dominant in the palate than I wouldíve liked, making the beer a bit on the sweet and boozy side. Still, a really flavorful and fascinating beer. Excellent texture, looks beautiful in the glass.

12 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland. The aroma on this has a bit of a vanilla character with light pumpkin spice and nutmeg. Definitely not overdone, and quite quaffable. I also get a bit of a minty character, as well as a little ethanol. Moderately hazy orangey-copper body with a medium, fairly strong off-white head present. Starts with light sweet toffee and caramel hints. Some light pumpkin flavors come through in the middle, before a bit of a spicy ginger and minty herbal flavor comes through in the end. Warming throughout, with some definite brandy character late. A really interesting beer. A bit hot, though.

Dark amber pour at Beechwood Brewery in Long beach - dark amber pour with a nice white head. Lots of white lacing. Boozy squash and nutmeg nose. Really nice taste - 12% is totally hidden. Malt is strong with this one but itís also got a nice spice character. Yum.
