3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle courtesy of a trade on BA. Thanks. Pours a well hazed toasty brownish orange hue. A bit lighter with some copper glow on the edges, orange fire and a darker more hazy middle but certainly not deep and darker. A lively carbonation in the body and small frothy off white head sits atop, dies to a filmy layer and laces small. Aromas are a good dose of pumpkin, a bit carmelized and toasty with some vanilla, gentle oak and mellow spirit, apple brandy comes through a bit tart and tannic, fruity with some decent spiciness, ginger and cinnamon meet some vanilla, toast, and caramel. A bit crusty, toast, and sweet. Nice. Initial shows a firmer body, sweeter caramel and toffee, toast and biscuity malts present some body, depth of malt character. Some toast, oak and gentle spirit. Apple brandy, vanilla as the pie spice elements throw cinnamon and ginger spiciness. Some decent body, sweetness. The blend works well here leaving some body and sweetness, lingering spice, mellow barrel that compliments well without overtaking the beer. A bit warmer and tannic into the backend, the spice and brandy actually are a bit synergistic, giving some character and pizzaz, growing spiciness and barrel, warmth. Lingering oak, spice, toasty malts and cinnamon and ginger. Toast, carmelized malts and some sweetness, gentle warmth. This blend actually has a pretty neat idea behind it, good flow, nice barrel compliment without overtaking the actual base. Flavorful vanilla, apples, and lingering sweeter caramel and biscuity base. Solid stuff.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of hamilton23. Cheers, Steve! Pours a hazy amber with an off-white head. Nose is big toffee, brandy, pumpkin pie spices, apple brandy, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and a notable absence of booze for a 12% beer. Flavor is similar with caramelized pumpkin, brandy, pumpkin pie spices, toffee, and no booze whatsoever. Lingering brandy and spice into the finish. Delightful barleywine overall.

Bottle. Pours like a cloudy brown nut ale. Thin to no head. Aroma of sweet barley, butterscotch, and pumpkin. Absolutely mouth watering. This beer Sooo well balanced. Sweet barleywine could stand alone w/o the magnificent pumpkin spices that almanac infused into this superb beer. Body is medium heavy. This would go great with a slice of coconut cream pie. Nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon, cream, butterscotch all blend together perfectly. Fantastic beer. I will be expecting great things from this brewery. New favorite pumpkin beer. Thanks bmillsy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this brew, I love my barley wines. The pour was a beautiful reddish-brown and smelled plenty of pumpkin, oak and liquor. Brandy was more subtle in the taste, while sugary pumpkin and vanilla notes tickled the tongue. With a finish of toffee, caramel and bitter pumpkin, you’d soon forget it was a hefty 12% abv. Thanks for the gift, OmegaX - cheers!

A lot of spice. I get no brandy which is disappointing. Goes down smooth for a 12 beer. Not bad for a pumpkin beer.

Bottle. Pours ruby red with small head. Aroma is full if spice, with some sweetness. Taste is smooth, spicey, with some alcohol warming. Don’t really get any brandy. Overall, I do not like pumpkin beers, this is pretty good.

Sample at Kurtkeller 001: Pumpkin-tastic 01 on 11/22/2013. Deep copper-orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkins, toffee and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of pumpkin pie spices, caramel malt and figgy booze. The finish is sweet with a lingering boozed pumpkin aftertaste. Good beer overall.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a murky light brown with a half inch white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is the nice caramel & toffee I love in a barleywine, with some pumpkin & spices.
Flavor is much the same with the pumpkin & spice being more prominent. Rich, full mouthfeel rounds it out making it one of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had this year. Delicious!

On tap at 10 East. An excellent beer for a cool early Fall afternoon. A murky brownish/red body with a thin white cap. Aroma has some nice caramelized pumpkins, brown sugar, nutmeg, oak and vanilla powder. Taste has a really nice complexity to it with the caramelized pumpkins, pumpkin spices, the brandy and oak. Extremely well balanced and it has a long sweet finish of pumpkin pie and brandy.
