This is a beer made with real pumpkins. We hand-roasted over 500lbs of heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay. The caramelized gourds were then added to our velvety American Barleywine and aged in brandy barrels for a year. Finally, we blended the barrel-aged beer with freshly brewed ale and added a delicate hint of pumpkin pie spices to round out this decadent autumn sipper.

Bottle thanks to OnTape ! Pours a deep amber color with a finger of foam. The nose is a bit vegetal with notes of leather, pumpkin, sweet toffee, fig and booze. The palate is sweet caramel, boozy dates, lots of round pumpkin and a bit of earthy complexity that draws out the sweetness in the finish. A bit thin on the tail end and some booze burn but an interesting beer wither way !

375ml bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled Autumn 2013. Pours a dark but clear burnt orange/red color. Frothy off white foam with clingy lacing. Aroma is roasted pumpkin flesh, pumpkin pie spices, chocolate, caramel, and brandy notes. Spicy and boozy. Taste is like a muted pumpkin spice ale with some oxidized brandy and caramel/brown sugar notes. Lingering chocolate and vanilla. Booze is present and warming but manageable. Mouth feel is medium bodied. One of the better pumpkin beers out there, but not as exciting as the description led me to believe. Very boozy.
