Brewed with a mash of raw and malted barley, oats, rye, spelt and lemon, this beer was fermented in used wine barrels with a blend of Brettanomyces wild yeasts and Marla Bakery’s San Francisco sourdough yeast. The finished beer is dry-hopped with tropical Mosaic hops. This unfiltered ale is alive in the bottle: drink fresh for a bright, passionfruit aroma or age to develop the wild yeast funk.

Taste is mild, more bitter than sour. Not very sour, and surprisingly bitter. Also, some surprisingly bready/strawy flavor

Bottle thanks to my local group for sharing. Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a small fizzy ring of head. Smells like pancake mix, tropical fruit and brett. Pretty cool. Taste, however, is not cool. It’s barely drinkable actually. Pancake batter, bitter fruit peels, rye, and just some weird funkiness that I can’t describe.

Bottle: The aroma consists of tropical fruits, grapefruit, orange peel, floral notes, and pine. It pours a hazy/cloudy golden-orange with a small white head that fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus. The finish is grapefruit, wood, orange peel, and a touch of florals. It’s light bodied with moderate carbonation and a soft mouthfeel.

Sample at Kurtkeller 014: Almanac-tastic 01 on 06/27/2014. Pours a clear deep golden color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart fruit, malt and yeast. Medium-bodied with flavors of tart fruit, doughy yeast and oak. The finish is tart fruit up front with a bready malt and yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.
