Lite skum doft nästan lite veteöl aktig. Inget som minnar om en barley wine. Smaken är ganska rökig men annars tunn. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber with a small ring of white foam. Fruity, slightly smokey and sharp aroma with notes of raisin, over ripe apples and yeasty banana. Flavor is sticky and sweet with a sharp distorted smokey and fruity flavor of dates, apples, banana and sweet caramell. Overall a bit thin and sticky, in need of a more generous malt profile and age..

375ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, medium mahogany, beige head. Spicy, smokey aroma, very malty, caramel, fudge, cured bacon, marzipan, hazelnuts. Semi-sweet, medium to full body, medium bitterness, creamy CO2. Smokey, spicy taste, caramel, malt, fudge, hops, cloves. Quite complex, interesting. (2012-06-04)

375ml bottle - shared by Mirjukka and Janne - thanks!
Slightly smoked aroma, a touch of whisky even - was this aged in tallisker barrels? Smooth palate, but quite lively carbonation, moussey in the mouth. Dry, again showing signs of being whisky-barrel aged, a touch of woodiness. Well attenuated, but smokiness is maybe a bit too dry. Resiny tarriness too much the driving force. Dusty finish too. Disappointing. More a smoked than a barley wine. Smells of Mirjukka’s cigarettes quite closely! Fairly pleasant bitter bite from the hops though. Smoother with a bit of the sediment in, some toffee.

Cloudy brown beer. Crispy palate, a tad dry. Smoky malt is immediately evident, but not overpowering. Smoke is well integrated with the fruit and the malt and this the smoke is balanced nicely. Finishes dry and with more of the same. Very drinkable.

On tap at Selezione Birra 2012, Rimini. Pours a light brown color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is lghly hoppy with dominant roasted and smoked notes. Bacon and lard in the nose. taste is sweet-ish with a nice smoke presence. Again, the smoke is not woody but meaty. Good carbonation and medium body. Overall, very nice and tasty.

Purchased at Johnny’s Off License, near the Vatican, April, 2009. Shared at Skyview tasting, November 11, 2011, and I believe that photo is my bottle. I liked this more than the other guys, maybe because of memories of my travels. Anyway. Medium sweet with caramel and malt. Very low carbonation. There is also an earthy, light peat character I did not expect. Dry for a barley wine. 3 years old should not be too old for this kind of beer, and I think it held up well.
