COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the name suggests, this is a darker version of our Aloha Lager. This lager has the same light body and hop profile with a pronounced coffee-like roastiness. This very ‘light’ dark beer is very refreshing with a fuller flavor.

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color, with small head and no retention, like all other beers here. Very light aroma of roasted malt an pond water. Dry mouthfeel; roasted malt flavor, with a hint of coffee and correct bitterness.
Simple but not bad.

As Aloha Dark. A reddish brown lager with almost no head. In aroma, nice roasted malt with nutty notes, grassy, smooth. In mouth, a nice smooth herbal malt with nice chocolate, roasted, decent. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 30, 2012.

On tap at the brewpub (Sam Choy’s). Pours a cloudy, deeper mahogany colored body with some reddish tints around the edges. Finger-width, foamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderately sticky lacing. Aroma is some lighter, sourish, dark fruit roasts and thin caramels with a touch of sweetness. Flavor is a bit better, but still has a sourness that doesn’t fit. Light roasts, char, sour fruit, and a thin malt sweetness. Finishes pretty dry with a hint of earthy hops and a somewhat charred roast that gives this a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a light body and fairly fizzy carbonation. Overall, a pretty sub-par beer. I guess the flavor is decent with a distinct roast, but it’s thin, fizzy, and has an off-putting sourness. Eh…

Alittle light in color for a black lager. Mild aroma. The surprise is in the taste. Malty with a burnt coffee flavor. Nice flavor. Good carbonation.

This is a nice concoction a fantastic island lager for those windy, stormy nights, though it works just as well on a hot sunny day when you need refreshment, but still more flavor than the the run of the mill lagers. Dark roast tinged appearance with a lush, dark tan, cream head. Easy roast aroma with pricks of diacetyl. Smooth, creamy body and light roastiness that is absent any bitterness. Perhaps a debittered carafa?? As smooth as you could hope a dark lager to be.
