COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed within the parameters of a classic India Pale Ale or I.P.A., our version boasts a burst of hops from start to finish, and is balanced with a sweet maltiness.

Draught at the brewpub
Hazy red-amber color, the head disappears quickly. There is some aroma of malt, caramel, and light butter. The mouthfeel I just less dry than most other beers here, strong flavor of dark caramel, almost roasted malt, with strong bitterness; the hop provides some resins but no fruity touch; there is an impression of butter. Long final.
A sturdy IPA, mostly an American Amber; they should control the diacetyl.

GABF-03: Dark amber, close to no head. Mild aroma of scotch-like hops. Pale, bready, with a little malts behind, but with an medicine flavor as well. Hay, sour fruit. Not hitting the style, IMO,. but it's still decent.

Taster - Big Aloha Brewery (Sam Choys) - Honolulu, Hawaii
2008 – Great Hawaii Beer Run
Aroma – A decent IPA aroma with some malts lingering.
Appearance – Yellow in color, nice head and clear.
Flavor – A decent IPA flavor with the good malt background to hold it up. This was about 70 IBU’s it was pretty good.
Palate – Had a good Mouthfeel, the hops made the beer finish very dry this was a good IPA would hold up in the Pac NW.
Overall – IPA fans can get a beer they would be happy with. It is not the huge IPAs we have but still la decent IPA.

Somewhere, this brew went wrong--assuming that they are not using the Ringwood yeast for this beer. Starts promisingly enough as it sports an orange-tinged amber body with a decent head. However, any indistinct hoppiness is utterly bogged down by the diacetyl/butterscotch aroma and flavors. If any style category could salvage this, it would fall under the rubric of buttery English-style E.S.B.’s.
