This sessionable coffee beer is brewed with a medium Mexican coffee blend from Stringbean Coffee, giving this beer a sweet and caramel finish.

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2014 Tasted on tap at the brewery, and brought a growler home. It poured a mostly clear light amber colour with quickly subsiding white foam. Strong coffee aroma and flavours on top of a mildly caramelly pale ale bill. Virtually no hops, deriving all of the bitter balance directly from coffee beans. This is an unusual use of coffee in beer, and stands in contrast to its prevalent use in Imperial Stouts. I liked this beer, but admitedly more conceptually than for it’s true taste merits. As a session beer in its own right, it’s pretty good, not great.

Ok. ... Pretty mediocre. Strong coffee but light on the beer. Tasted at hermann beer festival.

On tap @ Alpha Brewing. Sort of an amber-orange colored beer with a white head. Decent coffee on the nose but a fair amount of green pepper and jalapeño. Some cocoa and a sweet caramel and brown sugar aroma. Kind of thin and watery mouthfeel. Sweet caramel up front and lots of acidic, peppery coffee. Green bell pepper and jalapeño spiciness. Hints of dark chocolate. Kind of flat, too.

Sampled at Alpha Brewing during RBSG. Pours a copper color with white head. Coffee, bitter, malty flavors. Interesting lighter coffee beer.

On tap @ Alpha. Pours a peachy appearance with a tan head. A bit smoky, burnt cheap coffee, toffee aroma. Twangy fruity flavor with earthy, bitter coffee, toasty flavor. Not very good.

Taster on tap at the brewery. Clear orange color. Thin off-white head. Loose bits of lace. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Good coffee, light spice. Moderate sweet taste, light spicy, light bitter. Solid coffee blond ale. I enjoyed it. Tasty stuff. Good balance.

Draft at the brewery, my favorite of the mediocre offerings here. Drinks like an easy-going ale, but then adds a little coffee kick in the end, kinda different for an otherwise light ale. Thin, as is the "thing" at Alpha. (#5231, 8/29/2013)
