4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at APEX, drank next to Keene Idea. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. Smooth citrus nose, bread. The Marris Otter provides some backbone, but very smooth hop dominated flavors, citrus, lemons, light grass, more oranges. Very smooth comes across as balanced but isnít Awesome.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very clear gold with a two finger foamy head.
Heavy tropical fruit, grapefruit and some pine in the nose. Your standard west coast IPA.
Light citrus flavor hits the tongue first then rolls straight into a piney bitterness that lingers on the tongue finishing crisp and dry. Hop forward beer.
Mouthfeel is light with good carbonation levels even from a growler.
Another very good beer from Alpine, but I prefer Hoppy Birthday and maybe Duet to this.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Lucky to get a growler of this on the way to pick up my Speedway allotment. Beautiful 14 karat pour with a meringue-like ivory crown. Bright grapefruit pith, lemon zest, and mango with the addition of evergreen, resin, and pepper. Assertive but not aggressive. Just enough honey to provide a backbone and complexity without the distraction. The alcohol is truly invisibly in this one.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
One of my favs from my hometown brewery. Golden pour with white head and decent retention. Nose of citrus, pine, and other fruit. Taste is a little less on citrus and a little more piney. Nice malt backbone (but not large) on this one that balances everything out. Finish is drier than most DIPAís. Never pass on opportunity to get this.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler shared at Danís Birthday Tasting (Lyons, IL). Pours a nice near clear golden hue, frothy brighter white head sits atop as a nice layer, laces ok as a thicker ring. Aromas show bigger florals and melon, touches of citrus rind. Mellow crisp bready malt. Nice, fresh, firmly hoppy. Initial is floral, lighter end of the fold in body. Some lemon and grapefruit rind. Touches of earth, orange, and clean dry hops. Touches of crisp bread and straw, small malt bill and body. Middle is florals, melon, and some grapefruit. Touches of warmth. A bit thinner than expected, crushable but richly dry at times. Backend is dry, a bit resiny and bready, some crisp straw. Clean and quite drinkable. Some florals, pine, and mellow rind influence. Finish is dry, quite drinkable, a bit resiny. Well constructed. Not the most complex hopping oir richly fruity throw, but well done and dry, quite drinkable, perhaps a touch warm and dry at times. Nice.

Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex spruce and citrus hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. This is a standout brew.

In a world where a growler can make it across sed world for some beer freak, to drink I never imagined I would be on the receiptory of such an adventure. As I type this I have recently benefited from something equally as crazy. A gentleman who makes his own beer and will remain nameless (not my beer contact) did procure growler(s) of this bad boy, and then using his bottle siphon, transfer this to a bomber with no room from O2. It thus travelled to Michigan where I was able to share it with the intended receiptent, and that is the story of how I was very lucky this valentines day, *wink wink*. Hence, bomber to snifter... Not much head, Iím forgiving in this department giving the circumstances. The nose on this beer is absolutely ridiculous. Itís a clear golden orange and it smells of, mango, guava, cat piss, weed, dank jungle fruit, and godís vagina. This is the best nose on an IPA/DIPA hands down. It would oust Pliny or Two hearted... Accept itís not from Michigan (biased) and the body is a little thin. Itís drinks to easy, if there is such a problem. Do not get wrong this beer KICKS ASS however if we are going to this echelon I have to be picky. Carbonation perfect, mouthfeel just a smidge to thin, thatís the only possible detraction I can send toward this beer. The weirdest IPA burps Iíve ever had, seriously pineapple. Overall this beer kills!!! This is all from memory 2 hours prior, thank you universe for this and thank you Cheff Scott. And also that crazy guy in Cali, send us some jack in the box tacos (frozen) next!

Growler shared by mdfb79. Thanks Dan. Review from notes.
The beer is golden and clear with nearly an inch of white head. The aroma consists of hops, citrus, pine. A tad sweet, with hops leading the way. Nice blend of citrus and pine flavors. Very little malt profile. I donít think this is nearly as good as Nelson or Hoppy Birthday, which are some of the best beers on the planet, in my opinion. That said, this is another delicious IPA from Alpine. I would love to try this on draft from the source.
