COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The return of “Bad Boy,” our ‘other’ double IPA, happens this Thursday as soon as our doors open. It’s NOT bottled but we will be filling growlers at the brewery and glasses at the pub. This beer, created by Shawn, uses hops that weren’t around when Pure Hoppiness was invented. That’s one of the reasons it has such a huge hop presence. We also use predominately Premium British ‘Maris Otter’ barley which enriches the flavor and deepens the body. Be careful at 9.25% abv

In a world where a growler can make it across sed world for some beer freak, to drink I never imagined I would be on the receiptory of such an adventure. As I type this I have recently benefited from something equally as crazy. A gentleman who makes his own beer and will remain nameless (not my beer contact) did procure growler(s) of this bad boy, and then using his bottle siphon, transfer this to a bomber with no room from O2. It thus travelled to Michigan where I was able to share it with the intended receiptent, and that is the story of how I was very lucky this valentines day, *wink wink*. Hence, bomber to snifter... Not much head, I’m forgiving in this department giving the circumstances. The nose on this beer is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a clear golden orange and it smells of, mango, guava, cat piss, weed, dank jungle fruit, and god’s vagina. This is the best nose on an IPA/DIPA hands down. It would oust Pliny or Two hearted... Accept it’s not from Michigan (biased) and the body is a little thin. It’s drinks to easy, if there is such a problem. Do not get wrong this beer KICKS ASS however if we are going to this echelon I have to be picky. Carbonation perfect, mouthfeel just a smidge to thin, that’s the only possible detraction I can send toward this beer. The weirdest IPA burps I’ve ever had, seriously pineapple. Overall this beer kills!!! This is all from memory 2 hours prior, thank you universe for this and thank you Cheff Scott. And also that crazy guy in Cali, send us some jack in the box tacos (frozen) next!

Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex spruce and citrus hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. This is a standout brew.

Growler shared by mdfb79. Thanks Dan. Review from notes. The beer is golden and clear with nearly an inch of white head. The aroma consists of hops, citrus, pine. A tad sweet, with hops leading the way. Nice blend of citrus and pine flavors. Very little malt profile. I don’t think this is nearly as good as Nelson or Hoppy Birthday, which are some of the best beers on the planet, in my opinion. That said, this is another delicious IPA from Alpine. I would love to try this on draft from the source. Serving type: growler Reviewed on: 06-07-2012

Drank on tap at Hamilton’s in South Park. Floral, spruce, citrus, herbal Aroma. Sparkling and pale in color with a frothy white head. Well balanced flavor between bitter and malts leaving a citrus-y/hoppy taste. creamy texture light body - very easy to drink - particularly for an IPA. Outstanding beer. Not sure if I like this better than Nelson or Exponential Hoppiness, but it’s definitely up there.

My absolute favorite DIPA. Scent is fantastic, you can smell the citrus as they pour you the glass from 10ft away. This thing is loaded with huge citrusy hops, loads of grapefruit, Meyer lemon and mango fruits finishes with a nice balance of caramel malt and dry bready yeast. Awesome beer that I always get multiple growlers of when on tap... Keep it up alpine

Sampled several times at GABF 2012 with Andrew and Moreau. Pours an amber golden body with nice white lacing. Aroma is fresh citrus fruits and dank herbal leaves. Almost reminds me of a distant cousin of the nelson with the blend of fresh citrus and dank funk. Incredibly sessionable - as I wouldve pinned this to be 5-6%, cannot believe it’s +9%. Light notes of pine, and finishes smooth and refreshing. Yea, one of the top ten beers of the whole day for me.

Pour from tap at GABF ’12. Appearance is clear golden in color with a small off-white head and good lacing. Big grass, weed, light grapefruit, and resin in the aroma. Taste is super dank, big weed, orange peel, a touch of pine, straw, and sweet caramel with a medium bitter finish. Really smooth and super easy-to-drink especially given the high ABV. Medium body with high carbonation. Nice DIPA!

Sampled at GABF. Hoppy and intense like Alpine beers are. Bitte but touches of fruit and citrus. Awesome.

pour is clear golden orange with tons of creamy tan head that lingers forever. Nose is heavy pine with citrus and pineapple notes and a hint green. Well balanced caramel biscuit malt gentle cascades the side of the mouth. Taste follows suit, I was expecting big bitterness but it is surprisingly smooth and clean. Got balance of caramel and biscuit mid palate with sweet citrus up front and loads of piney resinous hop in back. The body is full and creamy with a gentle carbonation and light lingering bitterness.
