3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, USA - FEB 4, 2010
Growler, courtesy hopscotch. Pours a mostly clear, medium orange-amber hue with a small, lasting head of bubbly, snow white froth. Scattered, spotty lacing dots the glass. The nose explodes with varied hop character, showing ultra-dank grass notes, cannabis, dried citrus fruit, and peppery wildflowers. Rich, dried out toffee comprises the malt base, lending necessary sweetness, though this one is all about the sensory hop experience. The flavors follow suit, strikingly bitter with sticky resins, grass, and grapefruit hop notes, yet sufficiently reigned in by the fresh toffee sweetness in the background. Incredibly drinkable for such a staunch, massively hopped beer, the palate is substantial, moderately carbonated, and slightly drying on the back end. Hop flavors linger on the tongue for ages. This is a damn fine IIPA, reminiscent of its big brother, Exponential Hoppiness, only toned down in every category.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 arminjewell (3096) - Parker, Colorado, USA - APR 16, 2012
Pour on tap at Avery Strong Ale 2012, hazy yellow-orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of big dank hops, with some grapefruit and orange notes with big pine, some nice floral notes as well with a hint of biscuit, but it is dominated by hops for sure. Taste is a nice mix of dank and resinous, pine hops, hints of grapefruit, lemon and orange notes, touch of biscuit and caramel, slight earth and floral notes, finishing bitter and dry. Tasty stuff, well done.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 onceblind (1615) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 14, 2012
At 2012 Avery Strong Ale Fest. Clear dark golden with a foamy white head. Big west coast hop nose of resiny pine, grapefruit rind, and bitter floral-ness. Taste is citric hoppy with grapefruit and orange tones, a fair dose of pine resin, lots of bitterness with a backing undertone of toast and toffee. A little too bitter, but the flavor is very Californian hoppy. In a good way.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 KickInChalice (771) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 12, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 10/14/2011. Poured from a 64 oz. growler into a tulip. Thanks to Milohop for sending out this growler!
My growler pour is a fairly transparent light copper color with a light eggshell head. Eventually fading to a collar, there is a bit of lace down the glass.
Some light sweetness to go along with a lightly toasted biscuity graininess in the nose. Some bubblegum and honey aromas are there as well. The hops are blended quite well. Grapefruit, sticky pine, and some herbal notes provide the hoppy goodness.
The flavor starts with a honey biscuity malt sweetness, with a little bit of spice and bubblegum yeast in the middle, which adds a Belgian quality. The hops have pineapple, grapefruit, spicy pine, and a little herbal character.
This has a fuller than medium body, starting sweet and staying juicy through each sip. A creamy mouthfeel that has a prickly pine nature and is lightly grainy as well. A little bit of booze adds character and depth.
As part of the growler side by side tasting we had, this absolutely killed our other offerings. I would definitely go back to this. Every time I have something from Alpine, I regret that I do not live there. Like in the fermenters.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ratman197 (5907) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAR 11, 2012
On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear gold with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, pine, skunk bud and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pine, skunk bud and light grapefruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering grapefruit finish.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 adnielsen (3704) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Clear, dark golden appearance with an off white head. Pretty potent piney, somewhat grapefruit citrusy hoppy aroma. Rich, tangy orange/grapefruity, a bit piney hoppy, sweet citrusy flavor. Very nice!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 McGrupp612 (76) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 25, 2012
Poured from growler into a snifter. Awesome appearance! Between gold and orange with a small white head that stuck around. Smell is piney and citrusy. Taste follows the aroma, with just enough malt to support the bitterness. Finishes very crisp with a moderate lingering bitterness that makes you thirsty for more. The alcohol was not noticeable at all. Nobody could believe that this was more than 9% ABV. The growler was emptied way too quickly. This is another fantastic IPA from Alpine.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 xpimptastikx (103) - Austin, Texas, USA - FEB 21, 2012
A - slightly golden orange, with two fingers of off white head and a few legs.
S - grapefruit and pine trees
T - More floral piney hops with the citrus taking the back seat. alcohol is completely hidden.
M - creamy body with good carb, way too easy to drink.
O - Another outstanding DIPA from Alpine, who’d a guess.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SDalkoholic (1536) - Chula Vista, California, USA - NOV 19, 2011
On tap @ Toronado: Poured with no sign of head and was a solid glowing orange hue. The nose was moderately hopped with strong suggestion to pine also. The flavor was similar to the aroma, but it did fool me because I assumed it was just an IPA and not a double IPA. Would like to see this bottled and in distribution at least once.

(on draught at Alpine). Pours a clear, dark golden color with off-white head. Aroma has dank hops, pine, resin. Taste is sweet malts with some heavy bitterness. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Bitter, dry finish. Good beer, but not my favorite hop profile.
