Great blankets of lace on the glass from a smallish head (for the style). Deep dark brown where no light shines through.
Straight up black patent malt aroma.
Lots of coffee on the tongue. Smooth but in an espresso sort of way. Rich body but with a good level of carbonation. Relatively short aftertaste.

Growler fill from Whole Foods Short Pump. Pours black, darkish tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roast, bit of coffee. Hops balance, but for bitterness. This is malt focused, and very well done. Comes across much bigger than a 6% beer, rather surprised to see that ABV. Very well done.

On tap at Blue Monk in Buffalo, NY. So happy to see Alpine beers showing up here. Dark brown pour, lots of chocolate. Very very smooth; went down very easy but in a good way. Nothing over the top but a very solid stout. I’d happily drink again.
