COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream.

Bomber from DaSilky1. Dark brown pour with medium head. Slight lace. Aroma of dark, lightly roasted malt; coffee and chocolate, some dark fruit and a little salty licorice and grassy hops. A bit watery. Finishes sweetly with fruit and malt.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Dark roasted malt aromas. Taste follows suit with baker’s chocolate and muted caramel undercurrents. A bit hoppy, but with a good body and mouthfeel

Taster... Dark black pour with creamy head. Nice coffee and dark chocolate notes. A bit thin for the style... Nice stout...

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine. Appearance: Clear dark-red brown but opaque in the glass; the decent looking head soon reduces to a thin ring. Essentially no lacing. Aroma: appealing mix of medium and dark malts with a hint of caramel. Flavor: lightly sweet; ample dark roasted malts; a touch of coffe in the aftertaste and a hint of molasses earlier on.. Feel: Medium-light body with low but lively carbonation.

Got in a trade with swingracex. 22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, oats, light char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, oats, and light earthy hops; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, oats, light char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, oats, light char, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, oats, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice oatmeal stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, oats, and light earthy hop flovors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draught at the brewpub in Alpine. Pitch black beer with a nice lasting beige/ brownish. Malty fruity aroma, roasted, caramel, floral, cocoa, licorice, tar, some raisins. Roasted chocolate flavor, peat, cocoa, vanilla notes, hay, soot, licorice and some oranges. Decent.

I keep seeing the word "thin" in these reviews. And that's what I'm going with. A bit too sparkly going down, for a stout. Although I guess some might not mind this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Pours a deep burnt umber with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of earthy coffee. The palate follows with a nice creamy milk chocolate base with hints of roasted malt, vanilla and coffee bitterness touches on the late palate. Solid offering and a very easy drinker.
