COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream.

This for me is near the pinnacle of the style for a non-imperial, no-adjunct stout. Really good roasted malt character gives lots of cocoa and espresso beans. Just quite good flavorwise with drinkability to boot.

Poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of roasted malt and some dark chocolate. Flavor similar, pretty standard stout, nothing too exciting.

On tap at tap and mallet. Standard stuff, dark, some retention, thick lace. Roasted and toasted notes dominate. Good to sip and make last.

Keg @ Republic. Deep brown with a small head. Nose is full of umami. Sea salt and chocolate. Dark fruits. Taste is fairly dry at first, gives way to a growing rich bitterness that reveals coffee, roasted chocolate. Camp fire. Full and rich, oily.

On tap at Happy Gnome. Pours near black with a yellowish light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has roasted malts and lots of bitter dark chocolate supported by dark grains. Flavor has intense roasted malts and dark chocolate up front with a growing dark grain note.

Served on tap at Green Flash. Dark black with a medium brown head. Coffee chocolate aroma. Medium body smooth texture. Coffee and chocolate flavor but light overall. A little but of bitter as well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big and black on the pour. Nice head baby. Typical roasted beer aroma. Doesn’t seem thick and not viscous. Flat. Leathery feel to it. Taste is not infringing into the impy territory. Just a good overall stout this is. Not bad on the finish.

Black with minim gray white head. Light roast nose, with a touch of baking chocolate. The bitter roast is perfect in this, exactly what I want in a stout. Light caramel notes with the slight smokey chocolate.
