The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream.

This for me is near the pinnacle of the style for a non-imperial, no-adjunct stout. Really good roasted malt character gives lots of cocoa and espresso beans. Just quite good flavorwise with drinkability to boot.

Complex, vanillaish, and super smooth. Had it with french toast and it was quiet an experince!

Small shaker showing a black center, coffee rims, and spare latte colored foam. The nose shows a lot of roasted malt darkness. the palate is very light bodied with a lot of chocolate immediately noticeable and a roasted malty bitterness on the finish. A bit too light for a stout but still pretty good.

draft that poured a medium brown with white head. really not sure you can call this a stout versus a black ipa. if its a stout then the flavor is all wrong if its a black ipa then you are right on target medium roasted malt base with a huge hop nose. the flavor is more of the same nice hoppy flavor start to finish on a medium roasted malt base evenly balanced but you need to get the style right.

Draft. Dark brown color, brown head. Lots of ashy, roasty coffee, malt with a bit of chocolate and toffee. Dry, dry finish. Nothing too extraordinary, but when you want a 6% stout...

Draft at fireworks pizza Leesburg. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Some solid pine on the nose along with some roasted notes. A bit hop forward on the tongue for my taste but still flavorful and balanced. Finished clean. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank on tap at Backyard Ale House in Scranton, Pa. Pours a nice deep, dark, brown/black color with very little light brown head. Smells of chocolate and malts. A good brew, a little off putting taste in the beginning that grows on you.

This beer is named for fire crews. It’s appropriate this time of year because of all the work those people are doing 24/7 around here right now. It’s an excellent Stout. Couldn’t really get much better. Just needs more alcohol (make it Imperial).
