On tap at tornado in san diego for Dallas’ bachelor. Strong and piney, creamy in the finish. Ligering finish.. Semi dry but also juicy.

Bottle... Poud golden with a white head. Simcoe and Amarillo are a couple of my favorite hops so this really stood out to me quite a bit. Citrus and pine with a dank mary-jane quality with bready malts. Body was really nice, soft and not too harsh. It’s amazing how these alpine beers can be so balanced even with all the resinous hop flavors going on.

Pours orange. Little head to speak of. Nose is very bright floral qualities and citrus with some nice Simcoe tropical fruit aromas and earthy pines mixed in slightly. Also some faint caramelly brea malt aromas. Flavor is smooth tropical fruit and pines with a nice lemon citrus and floral quality. Malts flavor is not up front. Bitterness is medium low. Also some slight grassy hop flavors. Mouthfeel is smooth. this is very good.

Growler courtesy of cuda7051. Poured into a large tulip.
A: Dark golden-orange body. Crystal clear with a nice stream of carbonation releasing straight out of the center. Large creamy white head that slowly receded while leaving a respectable amount of lacing down the sides of the glass after each sip.
S: The rich citric aroma was detectable the second i unscrewed the cap of the growler. In the glass, assertive tangerine, orange, mango, and nectarine aromas dominate over the background of a slightly resinous pine hop note.
T: Disappointing! Compare to the nose that is :) I knew it would be hard to live up to the exceptional nose, and the taste is certainly superb, but not the equal of the nose. Sweet citric hops like those described in the nose are present and ride atop a soft malt background. Not as assertive as the nose though. Clean bitterness in the back end.
M: Soft, light-medium bodied. Good, consistent carbonation. Clean, crisp finish.
D: An exceptional IPA right up there with Sculpin, Blind Pig, AleSmith IPA, Masala Mama and Furious as the tops in the category. This is an easy drinking brew that does not skimp on flavor and aroma.

A - Pours a fairly clear copper-orange color with a finger plus of frothy off-white head. The head fades down slowly leaving behind some nice lacing in the process.
S - Aroma is full of lots of citrus and pine hops. There is also just a bit of sweet caramel malts peaking out from the background.
T - Starts off with some building citrus and pine hops that taste super fresh. There is also just a bit of sweet caramel malts in the background. Through the middle, the bitterness and pine hop flavor both get a bit stronger. The finish is a mix of sweet caramel malts and hops and bitterness that linger for a while.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and dry from the heavy hop flavor and bitterness.
D - Very drinkable. Definitely hop-forward but there is enough other flavors to provide some balance. The hop profile is really nice from start to finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jblauvs (1264) - Dover, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Thanks to Hamilton23
Pours Golden with a nice white head. Aroma is bitter citrus, mango, tropical sweetness, papaya, orange zest. Mouthful is more citrus, tropical hoppiness, some pine sap bitterness makes an entrance in the middle and citrus and pine meld together for a pleasantly bitter, but deliciously tropical experience. Yum
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 pastradul (43) - California, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Duet is a deep golden color with three fingers of rocky white foam on top. Head recedes leaving a thin coaster and decent lacing. The nose is big citrus notes. Grapefruit, mango and mandarin oranges present themselves. Pale malt hovers in the background and a bit of pine can be detected as well. Taste is an explosion of fruity, citrus hops backed by sugar cookie malt. Pine enters mid palate with a medium level of hoppy bitterness. Finish is dry with a mild, lingering bitterness. Feel is medium wih a great level of carbonation making this very easy drinking and refreshing. Overall Alpine hits another one out of the park with this one! A well balanced, refreshing, super drinkable IPA that showcases flavors of citrus and pine in the west coast style. Recommended.

Bottle shared by jblauvs. Clear light copper pour with a frothy head. Aroma holds massive fruit notes, including clementine, mango, pineapple, and orange zest, along with great pine and spruce and subtle but well defined biscuity malt backbone. Flavor is much of the same, though the evergreen bitterness is more pronounced. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, very bitter with good carbonation and a delightful lingering finish. Damn good IPA.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 arondee (377) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUN 30, 2011
I’ve had this beer so many times I can’t believe I never took the time to rate it. It pours a clear light brown color with a nice white head and good lacing. Aromas are amazing, just like all of Alpines beers, biscuits, floral and piney hops overwhelm your nose. The taste is so well balanced. Perfectly hoppy and malty, along with this amazing biscuit/bread backbone. One of the best beers in the world.
