5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 fishingnet (1047) - Brandon, Florida, USA - APR 22, 2009
Growler courtesy of tpd975. Pours a slightly hazy pale golden with a one finger white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is like sticking your head into a bag of the best hops and reefer in the world with notes of apricot, orange, and lemon with a solid dose of pine. Taste is more hops and reefer. Medium mouthfeel with an insaine amount of bitterness and smooth as hell alcohol. This beer is in no way balanced but I love hops and thats what this beer is all about. A damn fine brew.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2009 Growler thanks to hopsleeroy on BA. Thanks Lee! Pours clearish golden with a white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing. Smell is huge perfume-like hop aroma like fresh hop cones, a slight herbaceous smell and some slight vanilla/oak. Huge, sweet hoppy flavor. Fresh hops and pine cones all over the flavor. Vanilla and dry oakiness as well. So easy to drink this one, I could hardly tell it was 11%. Basically it was like squeezing juice right out of the hops into my mouth.

Clearish straw yellow, huge fluffy sticky, rocky head leaves an impression on the glass and is truly spectacular. Fluffy nose, yeasty and minty, highly aromatic and spicy hops. Baby powder feel through the most original ingredient blending, sweet, resinous and cedary, which is an element I truly dig in IPAs. Very perfumey. The taste is not quite as impressive. We’re facing chewy hops that are well-flavored and still cedary/flowery, but more dominant, sappy and like an hopstick rather than a poem. Medium-full bodied, soft to moderate expanding carbonation.

Possibly the best IPA I’ve ever had. A triple IPA, yet so smooth and balanced. My benchmark for big IPAs.

Phenomenal aroma from the start. First few sips were almost too strong for me, but after that, it was hoppy goodness. Well balanced. Only negative is its hard to find.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2011 Fresh ass growler thanks to Rich. Clear burnt orange pour with a frothy white head. All kinds of tropical hop and malt aromas. Delicious. Tropical fruits: orange, papaya, and mango, mixed seamlessly with grassy/piney hops that are supported by an a super smooth caramel malt backbone.

Pours amber orange with solid white, fluffy head. Aroma is a huge citrus hop burst, with lots of lemon, orange, and grapefruit. The taste is like you would be chewing on a hop pellet, huge hops up front including citrusy lemon, grapefruit, orange, and some mango, that leads into a nice caramel sweetness and bitters perfectly at the end. A hop bomb that is balanced amazingly well, awesome beer!

rating #200 for this amazing brew! 22oz bomber FRESH from south bay. pours a beautiful honey-gold with a full, creamy white head and beautiful, drippy lace. aroma is absolutely stupendous with huge tropical fruit notes of pineapple, peach, tangerine, mango, and prickly pear backed by juicy grapefruit and orange citrus, massive pine resins, and hints of dank grass and sweet, maple syrupy, malts. flavor is truly nothing short of perfect with the massively juicy citrus hop notes of white grapefruit and navel orange taking a front seat to the tropical fruits present in the aroma and backed by prickly, spicy, herbal hops and fresh spruce. the bite of the fresh hops is beautifully balanced by the smooth, subtle vanilla and oak hints and sweetness of the toffee/caramel malts. palate is full bodied, and sticky with great carbonation and a long, lingering finish. wonderfully bitter and fruity yet balanced and effortless to drink despite the 11%. overall, a world class DIPA and one of the best i’ve ever tasted.

Pours orange with thick white head. Aroma is overpowering floral hops. I could just pour a glass and smell the beer. Then the first taste is huge citrus hops with piney resin. Pure hop juice. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. A hophead’s dream beer. Very easy drinking for 10.5%.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2010 I finally got my hands on this beer. From K&L in Redwood City. $15 ouch!!! The first thing that hits you is the insanely fresh hop aroma. You can smell and taste the copious amounts of fresh hops in this beer. No wonder it’s so expensive. First it knocks you back and makes you question weather you really like hoppy beers this much. The real fresh hop flavor that this beer has is unparalleled. Some big hop beers are so phony because they use hop resins. As a serious hop head I really advise you to try this beer if your like me. It’s a hardcore hop assault and still drinkable. Worthy of the Alpha King award. A special experience and a true hop fest beer!!!!!! Unbelievable hop freshness!!!
